Why is there an obsession with players wages and how much we are saving??? I don't give a f*ck....it's what happens on the pitch. I'm sure Randy and the board know what they are doing with the wages. Plus it's all guesswork how much x player is on.
I think we all know exactly what the implications are surrounding players wages.
Infact, no-one should realise more than us Villa fans, given the season we have had and the reasons for it.
Reality HAS to be the watch word.

Good luck to him. I met his brother (Isaac, the Coventry player) the other day. Nice chap. I'm such a name dropper.

If GH pulls a good international level LB out of his backside by the end of tomorrow, I would argue this has been the best transfer window in our history.

I'd take into consideration the time allowed to do business, quality of players brought in, the net wage spend being reduced, transfer record being destroyed, dud players being sold or loaned out, energy and enthusiasm brought back to the squad, the improving results on the pitch and very importantly, supporter confidence being lifted massively, if not completely restored.

My confidence will be restored when he stops playing Gabby on the left wing

Even if we don't get a left back it won't be a disaster. Walker, Young, Baker and Clarke can all play there if need be, that'll do for now. Can always get another one in the Summer.

What's Nicky Shorey up to these days?

It's certainly exciting turning up at Villa Park not knowing for sure who is going to play, unthinkable under You Know Who.

Maybe he's trying to create a system that he prefers. Coupled with the players he's purchased, and the fact that Gabby himself says he's willing to play in any position for the team. Are you honestly saying that is the one thing holding you back in commending GH despite everything else that has transpired this January?

Has there ever been a Villa manager who never made a tactical decision that annoyed people?

we could have won every game by 5 goals with the new strategy and you know full well someone would have tried to pick holes in it.

No certainly not since the Sunderland game it has all been very good and I must admit he has done great work in getting in Bent, Makoun and hopefully Bradley and the results @ home to Citeh, Blackburn and away @ Wigan have been very good all I am saying is that we have 2 very good left sided players in Downing and Ash who can play there naturally and can cross easily with their left feet without having to check back and come inside to deliver a cross, shoot.

The days of a regular 11 are gone, houllier will rotate his players and in the main keep them fresh and happy hopefully, same as he did at Liverpool there will be few unchanged teams , but he is not a tinkerman in the ranieri and benitez mould- more a rotator in the sir alex style , it will be nice to get to march and not have a team of knackered players.

Gabby doesn't play on the left wing. Yesterday he was the left side of an attacking three who tucked back into a wider midfield position when we didn't have the ball. It's the way we're going to be playing so we need to get used it.

I think if GH gets a quality left back in, either now or probably in the summer, one who is comfortable going forward and giving us an attacking outlet down the left, then Gabby will be Bents understudy next season.

Sorry to upset a lot of people on here but I don't think he reads the game well enough to be a striker in the position he is being played now.  I think he is only in the team because GH knows he will help out in covering the full back, Clark or Baker, and because there is no one else.

I'll be delighted if we get Bradley in. From what I've seen of him he fits the bill for new Villa.
He's tidy and clever on the ball, tall, strong, commiited, young and seems to have the right attitude.

Great stuff. Now if we can just snaffle a left back before the window shuts it will have been about as good a window as we could have hoped for.
But if not it will still have been great.
