Assuming we loan Ireland out to go with Carew, Sidwell and Davies, I would estimate that they were on about £230,000 per week.
Bent is on £80k, Makoun I would guess at £30k, Walker and Bradley about £20k each.

Meaning we've improved the squad and cut the wage bill as well, as The General often pointed out, it was the wages that were the issue, not the money for the transfer fee.

Good business so far from Houllier.

Re: "he'll come back to haunt us" He'll go on loan and won't be able to play against us so I doubt it.

Lyon are awash with money, though, so I'd say Makoun on about £50k a week. Plus Bradley's a proven international, he'll be on at least £30k.

can't see a problem with bradley. its a try before you buy deal for a young established international and even if he's crap he's still not any worse than Ireland and we haven't wasted milllions on him

I can't see bent being on 80k, we simply cannot afford to pay that much, he wanted out of Sunderland for some reason, so we wouldn't have ha to break the bank on wages.

I think Randy has accepted Martin and transfer fees was a disaster and has now started again, but making sure we have a decent wage bill. Houllier said at the Ben press conference that our wage structure has not been compromised.

I think the Window has been (if Bradley comes into the squad) an excellent one. The 4 new guys and the development / re-introduction of some of the youf (Weimann, Delph in addition to those mentioned earlier in the thread) gives the whole squad a vibrancy that had diminished under MON.
A midfield three of Makoun, Bradley and Delph has a real combination of flair and grit to it ... may not see that straight off, as Petrov still has some mileage in him.

aye. I make it a cool 180k a week wage reduction in the wage bill since Harewood leaving in the summer if Ireland goes. two new faces - probably looking at 100k a week increase max on them. 3 on loan, 1 very temporary.  Beye, Young, salifou NRC, probably a good 100k going from them when we shift 'em,

Shaping up nicely

Why is there an obsession with players wages and how much we are saving??? I don't give a f*ck....it's what happens on the pitch. I'm sure Randy and the board know what they are doing with the wages. Plus it's all guesswork how much x player is on.

there's an obsession because by definition if you can't buy players because of the wage bill it directly affects performances on the pitch

Friedel
Walker - Collins - Dunne - Clark
Makoun - Bradley
Downing - Young - Gabby
Bent

Marshall - Cuellar - Baker - Petrov - Bannan - Albrighton - Heskey

Looks good to me, an awful lot of options.

I'd be happy enough with Larsson too, offers something different we don't have on the wide areas as well as adding another great set piece taker. Capable in a multitude of positions... Obviously not as good but he could be another Milner type, really hard working and covers lots of areas if needed.

Yes, but we don't know how much these are on or what our wage structure is, therefore you cannot make any definate statements. All I know for certain is that we have had a good window - even better if we get Bradley. Personally, I want to us to keep Davies though.

i may start watching blose now Davies is there, if only for the constant wtf!? moments when the defence try and work out where their centre half has gone. relegation nailed on i'd say.
