The only reason I can think for buying Larsson is to sell him in the summer for a profit. He's worth next to nothing now with less than 6 months on his contract, maybe on a three year contract he'd be worth more.

How old is Martins now - really not in football years? Must be about 35 now.

Sky sports says 26 but that can't be right!

I'd still like to know why we paid £9.5m for a centre half who ended up as our 4th choice centre back.

Surely for that price, as he was obviously highly rated by O'Neill, he should have been first choice?

Clearly Samba was bullshitting about our interest to chivvy Blackburn along with a new contract.

sportinglife.com

Blackburn manager Steve Kean says defender Chris Samba is close to signing a contract extension with Blackburn.

Samba appeared set to be on his way out of Ewood Park after the departure of Sam Allardyce, but is now close to committing his future to Rovers.

He has been talked around by Kean, with the club's ambitious plans for the future convincing him that the outlook is bright under new owners Venky's.

Samba is now expected to follow the lead of fellow defender Ryan Nelsen and Michel Salgado by signing an extended deal with the club.

"We are close to agreeing with Chris Samba," Kean said in the Lancashire Telegraph.

"It would be a great signing because for us to get the team captain [Samba], as well as the club captain [Nelsen] and someone like Michel Salgado on board is fantastic.

"We had a few enquiries that we tried to put away for Chris and we tried to convince him this was the place to be.

"It is very, very close."

Pretty mad we're selling Davies to the knuckle dragggers.

Why on earth are we doing that? Does no-one understand that they're are rivals down in 17th place? Why are gifting them to get out and climb the table? I would like to ask the General this but I know it won't get answered.

Such a shame as I really liked Davies. If you're gonna sell him don't sell him to that rabble!

He's absolutely shit. We're adding to their transfer worries if anything.

Anyone else notice this yesterday?

I was watching Adebayor's press conference yesterday after he'd signed for Royal Madrid and he was trotting out the usual line about it being a dream come true

Then he said (and I'm paraphrasing) " I always wanted to play for this club even as a child so it's an honour to have signed for Barc.... erm Real Madrid"

That should go down well with Franco's bunch

He ended up fourth choice CB as the players that played when he was injured did so well he couldn't get back into the side.

The £9.5m has no relevance to that, although it is true MON paid too much for him.

Was in the same Nigerian youth team as Celestine Babayaro -  that'll be 32 year old Celestine Babayaro.
