Any news on whether this deal is going to happen as CD said that something would be done today?

I would rather take the money and increase the offer for Adam,If we paid 5.5 for Adam it would still be a good deal and he would bring the passing abiltiy the forwards need. If Houllier wants him then just offer the million that Newcastle offered.

I love Marc, bloody love him. He's going to be great. But for all his hardwork and random sliding tackles he's dodgy defensively and he often makes the wrong decisions. Larsson offers something different, better decision making, a great delivery (not that Marc doesn't have that) and more comfortable on the ball and capable on the right, in the middle, or right back and can cover left back and left wing too.

Beefs out the squad a bit, I'd be happy with it.

They want around 10m-12m for Adam though.

Not changed my opinion from this AM. Larsson adds a solid right sided midfielder that can cover right back and centre mid too. He is a good player. Also on a longer contract he is worth 4 million ish, so would make the deal 5-6 million for Davies. What they accepted a week ago is immaterial as is him going on a free in the summer, as he will be open to other offers and probably cost more in sign on and wages. He is 25, and Albrighton needs to be taken out at times and rested.

If I hear one more criticism of Albrighton's tackling, I'm going on a rampage with automatic weapons.

Let's get one thing straight. Larsson isnt fit to lace Albrighton's boots. Not now, not ever.

I'm not adverse to the idea of signing Larsson.

At first I struggled to see the point in it but I've started to see a case. He's cheap and at worst he will be useless. Trading in a liability for something useless and some money is good business. At best he can give us a solid option and something we don't have. Our set pieces are abysmal from Young and Downing this season whereas Larsson is fairly good at them.

Hotlips' vision is for 4-3-3 (if you believe James Nursey). Now Larsson is more of a right midfielder than a winger so he could slot in on the right of a midfield 3. We've tried Downing there and it patently doesn't work. Larsson might be an effective option for that role.

If the move doesn't work out it's not like we're paying a huge amount of money for him. It certainly won't be as bad as spending £10million on a hopeless centre back. We can always move for someone better in the summer.

Of course the most important part of the deal is that it gets rid of Davies and undermines Blues defensive solidity.

Larsson doesn't (and I don't expect him too, if he signs) have to go straight in to the team.

Mahamadou Diarra has moved from Real Madrid to Monaco, thought I'd mention it as some thought he could do a job for us in the defensive midfield role.

Whenever I have watched the blues, Larsson has always impressed.  He delivery from a dead ball is very good as his is crossing and work rate.

We are getting him pretty cheap and I doubt very much he will be on big money, what isn't to like about the deal?  He can play across the midfield and at right back, good squad utility player.

Urby Emmanualson has gone to Milan along with Van Bommel. I was impressed with him when we played Ajax a few years ago. I'm sure that GH had identified a suitable left back and is waiting to the Summer before getting him on board.
