All I know is Seb Larssan is not good enough for Villa.

Good job you aren't Villa's manager then. He's 25, can play on either wing, as left or right fullback, in central midfield, is highly rated by Wenger and costs around a million.
Do for me be nice to hear him say he's joined a top club etc.
Didn't you say Walker and Bent were shit too, or was that someone else, my apologies if it was.

Just take the 3.5 million for Davies off Blues then use the 2million of this which would have represented the Larsson fee to top up what we have already bid for C Adam.  The in May go and get Larsson on a free if Houlier really wants him.  Just cant see how Larsson at 2 million now represents good economic sense 500K a month do me a favour!

Not sure our squad is particularly small, it's the quality that's lacking, imo we could lose Warnock, Ireland, Beye, Salifou, Osbourne, Marshall, Pires and Davies and bring in say only Figueroa, Larson and Adam and be far stronger, even with less players.  Having 5 or 6 guys out injured doesn't help and is unusual, but we still have several senior players who don't make the matchday squads.

You're right to an extent, but I think the issue is that some of the 'quality' we do have is not producing, such as Ireland and Warnock.  We also have questions over too many players and so  properly judging what we need becomes difficult until they are answered:-
1.  Is NRC staying?
2.  Is Young staying?
3.  Can Gabby successfully convert to being a wide player?
4.  Which of the kids are going to REALLY come through?
5.  Where will Ciaran Clark actually play?

We have plenty of numbers, but where we need to sell and buy is still up in the air other than one or two obvious positions, such as LB and GK.

To answer your questions:

1.   Probably not, I believe.
2.   Doubtful, say 50/50
3.  No!!!
4.  The million dollar question - if GH knew the answer to that it would make his life a lot easier!
5.  Eventually centre back, but these matches at full back are good for his development.

All my opinion, of course.

I'd agree with this although with Gabby, I think he'd work out wide in 4-3-3 formation but not 4-5-1 if that makes sense

Wenger rated him so highly he flogged him to Small Heath at the first opportunity.

i dont want larsson... very one paced, and very inconsistant...

would rather we flogged davies for a few mil, and then if interested in larsson, then grab him for free in the summer...

we dont particularly need him now, and tbh, i dont think we would need him in the summer either, depsite his versatility...

The Mail say that Houllier sought Wenger's opinion of him, which was positive.
Odd, as he fucked him off.

Four and a half years ago Wenger told Sven Walcott was ready to play for England, yet still wouldn't put him in his Arsenal side.

Worryingly, did Wenger not give Houllier a glowing reference for Pires?...

I thought larsson wanted to leave arsenal because he couldn't command a 1st team place - although that Is no bad thing as not many players could command a 1st team place at arsenal- not doubting his ability just whether we need a player in his position-as a right back maybe.

Wenger also recommended Pires. Say no more .......EDIT: sorry was sent straight after.
Wenger let him go at 23 for a mill. The scum would not pay him what he wants and the same for Newcastle the same. If he was that good teams would be busting a gut for a 25 yr old ............

I don't want to see any ex blues shit in a Villa shirt similarly I don't want to sell them Davies either, I'd rather see them go out of business

It's a good job we didn't have that thought when building our league and European cup winning team.

Larsson is a decent player, would be a useful sqaud memeber and Davies hasn't lived up to his potential so we need to offload. We have to be hard headed about this.

I agree. I bet we're saving a few bob in wages too as well as getting a solid PL squad player. it's all good and well having kids, and there's no sign whatsover of us giving up on any of them. But nothing beats a few seasoned pros on the bench to bring on when needed. The kids have done brilliantly, and they'll keep contributing, but one or two will benefit from going on loan which will leave us with some gaps in our squad. Larsson will be a reliable player to have around in place of Davies who offers us nothing at all anymore.

I'd take him, I think he's a good player. Also think if he were playing at Blackburn or something more fans would be interested. We don't need the extra 2mil for a "Adam top-up", it's not that we don't have enough it's that we don't agree with their valuation.
