I really dont see what all the fuss is about Adam, if he is that good why has he not been snapped up before ?? He is a average player in an average team. We have a lot better in the squad already and I would prefer the management team
to spend the time trying to get Mr Ireland playing in the team as on his day he is twice the player Adam is. I know Ireland needs to buckle down as well but he would be a great asset

I watched a Youtube video of Bent before he signed and a lot of his goals came from defence splitting passes from midfield, something which Ireland does very well.

There seems to be a bit more of a togetherness about the team since Ireland disapeared out of the picture though, so whether he'd be able to fight his way back remains to be seen.

For me, the key with the midfield is that we should be operating under two provisos: 1) that Ash is, in all likelihood, off in the summer, so we need to plan for life after that; and 2) that we have three or four extremely good young midfielders who should not be underplayed and will make up the backbone of our team in the coming years. I refer of course to Delph, Bannan and Gary Gardner.

For me, Ash's best position has always been as a winger, so in that regard I think Albrighton replaces him pretty seemlessly (in fact, I think Marc could be better than Ash - we'll see, but the signs are promising). Makoun is already an upgrade on NRC, who is probably off for nothing in the summer. Petrov's legs aren't the most reliable anymore, and this is probably what GH is thinking for Adam - an option for the deep midfield passer. However, I'd actually prefer, if possible, not to stifle the development of the three youngsters I've mentioned, as all three of them have fantastic promise in, conveniently, three different midfield roles.

Seven days to go with two match days included - any more signings to come?

Yeah I reckon 1, a left back and we'll have to wait for a midfielder until the summer. I reckon Gerrard will wait for right man if he can't get Adam.
Hopefully no Shorey's, Marlon's or Beye's!

Adam is a good player but I agree. Ireland is far superior if directed properly. Getting him focussed would be a masterstroke by Houllier but I fear he has deemed the task impossible maybe. A real shame.

Delph has the same passing vision, is a physical player and is the future alongside Gardner (and maybe Bannan) I feel, but in the meantime, especially as Delph may not be fully fit until next season, we could do with one more body in. I can see why Houllier is going after Adam.

It's a shame his head is not wired correctly,as I've seen him do those type of passes for city on numerous occasions, with Bent in front of him,and Makoun behind,he could fit in perfectly into the team.

If GH could get him to perfrom,he'd deserve manager of the year.

Adam has shown he can do it in the short time he's been in the top league, we all know that a lot of Prem teams don't like to gamble on lower division players. He's shown he's decent enough, hence the interest from other clubs.

A left back would be good, although I think young Clark is doing a great job.
Don't want any panic buy, stop gaps like Shorey. For me Mamadou Sakho from PSG would be a great addition, would love to get him in the summer if not this window. Him, Moussa Sissoko and Samir Handanovic would completely galvinize out 1st team! Get Walker on a permanent too!

................Handanovic..............
Walker...Collins....Clark....Sakho
...........Makoun...Sissoko.........
Albrighton....Ashley......Downing
....................Bent....................

Would Honda be an automatic starter ?  ;)
Hi Mersey. Honda is a class player and is ready to go. He would fit in the middle with Makoun very well. Energy, good on the ball with a high work rate ......PS plus the millions the club would make on Eastern merchandise .......
