I think Bannan is better than Adam if we play 3 central midfielders but not with 2.
So with Houllier most likely wanting to play Heskey and Bent we can only have 2 central players, that's where Adam's experience and physicality comes in to play.
Adam has both physical presence and vision. Bannan has vision, but no physical presence. NRC has physical presence, but can't pass. I reckon Adam would be a very good acquisition.

Personally I'd like to see Villa loan Blackpool players. Holloway, despite his comments, is a good manager and plays good football. He'd be a good custodian for our babies.
Salifou, Osbourne, Warnock, Davies and Ireland get yet coats, taxi to Blackpool is waiting.

Correct, but Bannan has far superior technical ability.

Bannan is our most technically gifted player, he just lacks experience, but in a midfield 3 would work in time, in my opinion.

I agree and would like to see us try a three.

The only issue there would be what attacking three do we play?

Off the BBC Website:

Aston Villa are considering Peter Crouch as a strike partner for new £24m signing Darren Bent. It would be a return to Villa for Crouch, who spent two seasons there under Graham Taylor.

Don't believe it myself. But I never saw the Bent deal coming.

I've always thought that Liverpool is a very good fit for Adam, they have missed that type of player since Alonso left them. I'm not convinced he's the man for us, I think we are pretty well stocked for ball players.

I'd expect bent to play as the main striker being fed by the wingers and players breaking from midfield- would be surprised if we played 2 out and out strikers- maybe ash in a roaming role, but doubt crouch would be a target , emile a good player to bring off the bench if we need to chase the game.

Bent striking with ash and albrighton wide and a midfield 3 of makoun petrov and downing would be interesting at Wigan. Gabby and heskey on the bench.

The great thing is we now have plenty of options and can change tactics and formation when needed.

I like the look of that.

Downing and Young to swap left/centre as they see fit, Albrighton to go nowhere but the right wing. Bannan on when Petrov starts to tire.

Albrighton can put a lovely ball in from the left swinging into the back post.

Bent is a natural finisher, feed him the chances and he will score .

I'd try Albrighton at the front with Bent - I think there is a touch of Brian Little in the lad.

He can - but that would then mean either Young or Downing on the right.

And it's a definite "no-thank you" from me on that.
