Holloway will want to turn into an auction between us and Liverpool. While i'll agree he's a good player,we wouldn't want to pay over the odds,especially after the Bent deal. And lets not forget he's had a good 12 months with Blackpool,thats all. There must be other players in our sites as a back up plan.

I think we should be finished in the Jan window now.  We can cope without Adam, with Bannan and hopefully lazy arse no probs and Warnock can come in at leftback (Not ideal), he can get us through to the summer tho.  Then we can sort them positions properly without paying over the odds.

I think Liverpool will get adam but it's not the end of the world, Gardner and delph look promising players as does bannan, I'd have liked Adam though- maybe offer kenny warnock on loan if he allows us a clear run to sign Adam- either way we have added 3 very good 1st team players.

I think Bannan is better than Adam if we play 3 central midfielders but not with 2.
So with Houllier most likely wanting to play Heskey and Bent we can only have 2 central players, that's where Adam's experience and physicality comes in to play.

Why so?  If it were the 1980's I would agree with you, but in the here and now I would argue that Villa's future prospects are more than a match for Liverpool's.  If we want the player desperately I'd back our manager and chairman to convince the lad of our ambition.

Having said all of that, we have Barry Bannan.  I would much rather we give our little magician the gig.  The only reason I would want us to sign Adam is because of what Holloway said to the press...alas, spite is not a good enough reason to be signing players.

Personally I'd like to see Villa loan Blackpool players. Holloway, despite his comments, is a good manager and plays good football. He'd be a good custodian for our babies.
