'This makes me laugh and shows how dumb fans of some clubs are, He is saying that his worth to Blackpool is £46m as thats what they will earn if he stays and keeps them up. He doesn't say thats what a club would have to pay for him. I also think its laughable that villa can bid £2.5 - 3.5m for a player of Adams quality then stump up £18m for Bent. Villa are a joke of a club.

Kendrick thinks our Jan is done as the prices for the other 3 targets we had (he says targets but other places have said 3 more) have risen dramatically since the signing of Bent and better value can be had in the summer.

Still think we are a central midfield player and a left back short of being a good team again, but on paper we should stay up with ease with what we have.

This summer will be fun though. Houllier turned over a lot of players in his first summer as sole manager of Liverpool. Certainly don't think it will be anything like it was with Martin.

I actually think Makoun will be more important short term, although look how much the right has improved with Walker. It will be a shame if GH can't get a couple more of who he wants this window, but we have been fighting harder recently, and should stay up easily with what we have.

Skysports.com understands Aston Villa have joined the hunt for highly-rated Leeds midfielder Bradley Johnson.

The 23-year-old, who has been linked with a host of suitors in this month's transfer window, saw his stock rise as he fired home a stunning goal during the Whites' 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Arsenal at Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Johnson, who is out of contract in the summer, has yet to agree a new deal with Leeds after turning down a three-year extension in November.

Villa are the latest Premier League outfit to show an interest in the midfielder, with Wigan, Bolton and Stoke, as well as Scottish champions Rangers, already reportedly chasing his signature.

Gerard Houllier's side could be targeting Johnson as an alternative option to Blackpool captain Charlie Adam after Seasiders manager Ian Holloway insisted their initial £3.5million bid for the midfielder was 'insulting'.
Johnson, who can also play at left-back, is thought to come with a £500,000 price tag, but will be available on a free transfer in the summer should he see out his contract at Leeds.

The Metro understands that Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is considering a bid for Arsenal’s out-of-favour Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia.

Villa’s current number one Brad Friedel turns 40 in May, and is expected to hang up his gloves in the near future, leaving Houllier to look for a new number one.

33-year-old Almunia has not played for The Gunners since picking up an elbow injury during a home loss to West Brom last August. A fresh ankle injury has prompted manager Wenger to give his blessing to a potential move away from the Emirates.

Just before Christmas Houllier said a decision whether to offer veteran USA international Friedel an extension on his current contract would be made New Year as he looks for a successor between the posts.

With the spending well and truly underway at the relegation-threatened Midlands-Club, a bid for Alumina in the £3 million region could be enough to secure his services ahead of a number of other potential suitors, including Galatasaray, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.
