I think I may have found the worst bit of reporting in this transfer window. When did Beckham leave Man United, six years ago?

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2011/01/20/2314949/juventus-beat-manchester-united-aston-villa-in-race-to-sign?

That will teach us not to send Ian Ormondroyd out to help negotiate future transfers.

Milner was sensational against West Ham on the opening day. Such a shame he went, and such a shame he has not played central midfield since!

I remember when we were all basking in the afterglow of that performance v West Ham, from the whole team. Playing with the shackles off, surely a sign of things to come.

Chris Smith quite rightly pointed out at the time that would be the last time that midfield played together. We don't know what the rest of the season holds but it's fair to say that up until this point, it's been all downhill since then.

Hard to know whether Milner alone would have had us back near the top 6 with the state of the defence (in particular Dunne) this year, but I'm pretty certain we wouldn't be where we are now.

Absolutely! No coincidence our midfield is struggling and not supporting the defence and we no longer have the likes of Milner. I'd have him back tomorrow no doubt about it!
He's exactly what we're missing and have been missing since he left. Great player, great talent. Him, young, albrighton, downing, makoun and bent! Awesome!!

That just means that we haven't replaced him yet.  I always had him pegged as a solid player but lacking any real natural talent, a hard worker granted, but replacable.  There's a reason why NRC wasn't getting a game while he was in the squad...he wasn't as good.  If we had signed somebody (and I hope it is Makoun) to cover the position we wouldn't be missing him.  After the amount of respect he showed for our club and us as fans, he can take his fat City contract and wedge it into that cavernous fucking jaw of his, and fuck right off.  IMO.

I hope Randy remembers all this bleating when Blackpool get relegated and come to us to loan players again.

Sporting Life's headline for the Carew signing is

'So solid Carew'

Good grief.
