Blackburn and Aston Villa have both lodged bids for Sebastian Larsson, skysports.com understands.

And West Ham United are also understood to have made an enquiry, as the race to land the Swedish international intensifies.

Former Arsenal star Larsson is in huge demand with clubs from England and Spain battling for his signature.

Atletico Madrid and Valencia have both failed to convince Larsson to agree terms on a move to La Liga, whilst Newcastle could not finalise personal terms after they had a bid accepted by Birmingham.

Now both Blackburn and Villa have firmed up their initial interest by making bids - although they are believed to be less than the Newcastle offer that was accepted.

Birmingham are now considering their options, as they know Larsson will be leaving the club - whether it be this month or in the summer.

Steve Bruce's Sunderland also remain keen, and having sold Darren Bent for a club-record fee they could now make a move for the Swedish ace.
