He was handed a formal warning by police in June 2004 after he was alleged to have shot a 12 year old with a pellet gun. Bent refrains from drinking alcohol.

BBC site confirmed the Bent signing at 17:42, but the link still showed the old story about him requesting a transfer. And AVTV has an interview with him, but the news text on the official site was lagging behind. It will all change minute by minute. Anyway, brilliant news - our first proven goalscorer since, well, years ago whoever you rated. Maybe since Withe & Shaw.

Wouldn't fancy that at all.

Of the names that were oft touted and looked semi realistic at one stage, Keane, RSC and Owen are pretty much close to busted flushes. Adebayor is a decent player but a complete headcase, capable of starting a row in an empty room.

I'd resigned myself to at least one of them being signed on a short-term deal. That's what appeals so much about the Bent deal, he isn't in some way damaged goods. Scored goals at all the clubs he's been at, is still at his peak and no reports associating him with dressingroom unrest et.c

I watched it for 13 hours straight once when I was off work sick and couldn't be arsed to get up to fetch the remote. It was the day Milan played Juve in the CL final, around 2003 or 2004. 13 bloody hours.

Never, ever again. Even if Hayley McQueen's working a double shift.
