The agent of Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel claims Liverpool have made an enquiry about the player but better offers have come in from elsewhere.

The Dutch midfielder is out of contract in the summer and unlikely to sign a new deal with the reigning German champions.

Van Bommel could leave this month should the right offer come in, and his agent Mino Raiola revealed there is competition for his signature.

"I know about Liverpool's interest, but other offers are currently more interesting," Raiola told Germany's Bild newspaper.

Bayern's Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg and Serie A leaders AC Milan are understood to be keen on the 33-year-old, and Raiola says he is working on placing his client with a new club.

"I cannot guarantee 100% that he will stay (with Bayern), but there is no rush with negotiations - I just have to do a good job.

"I have got to find Mark the perfect club and we still have enough time for that."

Van Bommel joined Bayern Munich four years ago and became their captain when Oliver Kahn retired in 2008.

However, following the arrival of Luiz Gustavo from Hoffenheim earlier this month, there is more competition for his place at the heart of the midfield and he has hinted that he could be on his way out.

"You never know what the future brings," Van Bommel said.

"I am concentrating on Bayern while my agent takes care of all the rest."

Sportinglife also claim that Albion are stepping up their bid to sign Carew.

Not so much stepping up but Carew now being available I would hazard.

I do like the fact that the Blues are using the old labour party trick of "Dumping bad news day"

Villa to sign Bent for £xxxx  whilst a Blues spokesman states
"We will not be signing Robbie Keane as he does not fit in with our budget"

err you mean he either told you to fuck off or you do not have a pot to piss in

Ha ha

Can see SHA and West Ham being infor him too, maybe some others, perhaps we can get a few £m for him
Still dont think we should sell to rivals

What's Zhirkov up to lately? You know, whilst Randers is feeling all spendy.

Yes, keep him at it. Tomorrow morning he will be going through all the receipts in his pocket and staring out the kitchen window, trying not to cry

More likely that his missus will find the receipts and ask why he bought those nappy bags from Waitrose for £1.97 when they're only 30 bloody pence at Asda. Well she should have bloody gone herself then shouldn't she? Eh? can't do bloody right for doing wrong.

Apparently Keane was asking for £65-70k a week, and to be fair I'd have told him to 'jog on' as well.

Can't see Chelsea trying to hijack our bid for Bent, they've been told there isn't much money to spend, and that they are to start looking towards investing in youth.  Doesn't quite scan in those circs.

I really don't think he wanted to go there, so he put in a mad wage demand.
If they'd have agreed he'd have gone there, but his heart wouldn't be in it.

--------------------------------- Friedel
Walker -------------- Dunne ----------- Collins ----------- Cissokho
---------------------------------- Makoun
Albrighton ---------- Petrov ----------- Adam -------------- Ashley
----------------------------------- Bent

Marshall, Cuellar, Clark, Bannan, Downing, Gabby, Heskey

Warnock (loan), Davies, Ireland (loan), Carew leaving this window.

Then in the Summer: Dunne, Beye, Luke, Walker, NRC, Pires and one of Downing or Ashley to follow?

That's the funniest thing - the 2 clubs agree a fee so he demands 25k a week more than he's getting at Spuds to play for them - f^cking hilarious :)

Samba to villa

Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba claims Aston Villa have made contact with his club regarding a possible transfer.

Samba is unsettled at Ewood Park after expressing his disappointment at the decision of new owners Venky's to sack Sam Allardyce as manager.

He reiterated his wish to leave earlier this month, although current Rovers boss Steve Kean remains hopeful he can persuade Samba to stay at the club.

Premier League rivals Villa have been linked with a bid, while there have also been reports of interest from French giants Lyon.

The 26-year-old has not received any approach from Lyon, but says Villa have been in touch with Blackburn during the transfer window.

"I heard about interest from Lyon, but there is no contact," Samba told France Football.

"However, there is contact between Blackburn and Aston Villa."

Villa boss Gerard Houllier is trying to revamp his squad this month and has already signed Kyle Walker and Jean Makoun.

Houllier has also made a bid to sign Sunderland

Houllier is buying entire cities now? Wow,..... does that mean we get Henderson too.

The way Big Dunne and Gigantic Ginger James played at the weekend, Samba ia a meh type of signing. Like him, but not stressed about it not happening.

I don't rate Samba at all, he's a threat at set pieces but lacks pace and really doesn't make me think he is an improvement on what we have at all.

No thanks to Samba, he's no better than Dunne or Collins. I'd rather keep Davies as back up
