'dippers would need to find 15 million minimum to get Downing. I just don't see them having the dough. Also, why would Downing leave us for them with Bent about to join, and Makoun destroying people in the middle.

I agree that Bent's all round game is lacking, but he is a classic predator striker, the like of which we haven't had for years.

I hate that shit 'fox in the box' cliche, but that's exactly what he is.

we've needed someone for what seems like ages that knows the ball is coming into the box before it gets there. Gabby, as much as we love is very limited as an out and out striker. Carew/Heskey are not predatory in the least. Bent is very different to anything we have at the club right now.
