Downing started as a kid at Sunderland and I believe is a sunderland fan, I'm sure as a local lad he would jump at the chance, we may want to offload some of our rejects but Bruce is a wily old fox, if he parts with bent it will be on his terms and maybe downing will indeed be part of the deal, plus possibly £6m?

I've thought many things of Bruce over the years - dirty ugly manu geordie blue nose potato head bastard just about sums it up - but I've never thought of him  as a "a wily old fox".

I'd say there were no flies on him but there are because he's a misshapen troll that lives in a swamp. However, he is a very decent manager.

Mr. Potato head was pretty mercanary in his early managerial career. Think he's realised now that he's never going to get the manc job and is better for it. He's certainly a decent manager. He's got nan's hair though.

He's done some decent transfer business at Wigan and Sunderland though, there's no denying that.

I hate to say it, but I think he is a very good manager. If he had been available when MON left, I would have been quite happy to see him at Villa Park. Despite that goal he scored in the 15th minute of injury time, and his association with our neighbours.

Is NRC out of contract this summer? If so,and we get A N Other midfielder in,it would be worth getting a couple of million for him now, especially as Delph is back soon, and Hogg has shown he can do a decent job,as can Clark.

NRC is out of contract. I can't see him staying. He'll end up somewhere like Stoke or Blackburn.

I don't see it as a huge stretch of the imagination to see how the Bent link has happened. It was widely reported that Bruce was interested in Downing, who's to say that GH didn't turn round and say only if we can have Bent in return, Bruce may have given GH a bit of hope that he may be available. Matt Kendrick seems to think there is serious money available for a striker so I don't see that being a stumbling block.

Rather keep reo- coker till the summer and he may help keep us up, cashing in for a million or so wouldn't be worth the risk .

We don't want to end up with injuries again and short of players, I prefer nige to petrov in the team.

According to SSN GH is cosidering a loan move for Omar Cummings after being mor impressed each time he sees him training, he would need a work permit though.
The biggest suprise is that they are not reporting from Spurs Lodge about Beckham, are they all circling over Avram Grant now?

It doesn't look like were gonna offer him a new deal,so we might as well cash in,if there's any takers.

I think Hogg would be a better bet lined up alongside Petrov, but this game is all about opinion I guess? Tommy Doherty once said of Dwight Yorke that he would never be a footballer.

I thought there was a problem with cummings getting a permit as he hadn't played the required percentage of international games?
If he signs I'd still hope GED is chasing another striker, maybe he has offers recieved for players but wants to get all his players in before selling anyone- would make more sense than bringing in a load of cash and clubs then seeing we have money and increasing their fees

This seems to be gathering momentum. Would be amazing if it was true. Must not torture myself with thoughts of Darren Bents goals driving us up the table.
