I would assume that 1981 is year of birth, at 29/30 I'd hope for a slightly more mature approach.

If Bent is happening I think a player+cash deal will be what it takes. Basically the Milner saga, only we're ManCiteh and Sunderland are us. And Stephen Ireland is Stephen Ireland.
But I really want it to work for Ireland here. If we got him playing he'd be fantastic.

I really wanted Ireland to work for us, but I just can't see it happening now. I thought he'd be ideal, but it just doesn't seem a good fit. So if we can use him as part of a deal for Bent I'd bite their hands off. £8-9 million plus Ireland for Bent would be a good deal for us.

It would but, going back to the Milner case, I think Sunderland would want something similar, or certainly closer to what we got for Lee Evan's nephew. 12m + Stevie at least I'd say.

Hope to be proved wrong as he's quality, but we have a snowball in hells chance of signing Darren Bent this window.

Sunderland are doing well this season, they'll be looking to add quality rather than get rid of it.  It would take a bid of ridiculous proportions for them to accept.

Can't see Bent wanting to come to a relegation threatened team either.  Would take a ridiculous contract offer that would alienate every other player at the club.

I hope Pelty's not messing around here and that he's being legit (especially when we do need a striker).

Understandably it's hard to fathom signing Darren Bent right in the position we're in, teams down the bottom don't just go and sign a really good striker who's at a club doing well nicely in the league at the moment. We'll learn in the next 2 weeks whether this is going to happen or not, if it's going to happen the sooner the better obviously ;)

Still not quite sure about this but I'm trusting Pelty on this one.

Looks like we've made an enquiy about Seb Larsson. I actually like as he works hard, at least whenever I've seen him in games. For a million (the fee Blues agreed with Newcastle), he wouldn't be a bad player to have around.

In fairness situation, I don't think pelty actually mentioned bent , although he may well be the player pelty was referring to, it did go through my mind about henry with pires being here and henry training at arsenal, henry knows houllier from the French set up and with wenger and houllier being mates , would henry come here for a few weeks though?

Bent would be a long term fix and if we could get him then I'd be prepared to sacrifice any of our players in a part ex deal.

I think that is fair enough. Anyone that knows anything but wants to let fans know should do so without putting anything in jeopardy on a public forum.

I have been thinking about the whole striker thing. If we got a player in the mold of Bent, what foramtion would we put in behind him. 4-4-2 flat gets ripped to shreds a lot these days, and I can't see Gabby and Bent being that successful. So would it be a move to 4-3-3 in the style of Chelsea with Gabby left, Albrighton right and then Makoun, Delph and Petrov centre? It is a tough one. I could see Bent and Heskey doing well due to the fact Emile will drop deeper and work his nads off for the team.

Can't you just give it a rest? Why not contribute something meaningful for a change?

I would give them Downing, Ireland and a few quid to get Bent.

Carew and Ireland plus a few quid.

Keep Downing.
