Don't know the financial situation, but I would sell either Downing or Young if it meant getting N'Zogbia in. He takes on and beats players, scores goals and delivers better crosses.

I think we are in agreement mate that Bannan has his qualities.

At this stage I feel he is potentially 6th choice in central midfield, hence the suggestion to loan him out in order to help the Adam deal go through.

We've all said MON was an over achiever. So it proves thatthe squad as a whole isn't good enough. It did really well to get top 6. By that analogy there wasnt a hope in hell that we'd of gotten top 4. Because we over achieve we were luck to get top 6.

So houllier has come in. His a top class manager. Much better calibre that MON. His record speaks for it's self. He has a better way of playing football. But the big difference is. He isn't used to managing a bunch of over achievers. He's used to working with top tier footballers. So, that's now what he's trying to go and get. The faults of the team are apparent. So given the time we'll get those better players in.  Ship off the the over achievers, the ones that are ok but not good enough for where we want to be and I believe we will see a much better class and style of football down villa park. It's breaking my heart to see the results at the moment but I think we'll get it right.

Makoun shold be a fantastic signing. Much better midfielder the petrov and NRC. This signing that could raise some eyebrows is also interesting to hear about. It's positive surely the fact we can still attracts these players in the position we're in. They can all see that come the end of the season we should be ok and next we'll be back up where we belong. Where as when newcastle we're down there two years ago. Everyone knew the writing was on the wall.

I wouldn't want to see young go so we can buy n'zogbia. No way. Young is great. And with the quality additions we should get  I think it will be a better, more balanced team for which young can shine in.

Ashley has got a fantastic attitude, ok his forms dips, but he does give it 100% for us.
I's not so sure N'Zobia would give it his all every week, and his form is pretty erratic too.

Part of youngs problem is he gets frustrated and try's to do everything himself. Get him in the right team with good quality around him and the guy will be able to concentrate on his own game more and we'll start to see the best of him again.

Holding on to ash for me is an absolute must!

News of the screws claims Emir Spahic - Bosnias captain and centre half wants to c how we do against the blues and if houllier gets bullet if we lose before agreeing to move.

I don't think many of us would want to sell young but if he doesn't sign a new deal he will leave us, downing looks a class act this season - downing and albrighton are the future wide men for a long time ahead, makoun will improve the centre so we are looking stronger now- Adam would complete the midfield allowing stan and reo coker to leave.

Certainly I expect a striker in and we need a left back , centre half  not so sure is a priority with a Strong defensive midfielder in the team- at £10m samba no thanks!

Im not Young's greatest fan (im sure he is really worried about that) especially when he plays behind the front man but I would never sell him to bring in the very, very overated N'Zogbia.......If he was as good as he thinks he is he would be starting for Barca

Well we still do need that sort of striker, a few months ago I would have totally been  against a move for Owen, but now it might be worth a punt.  But no I don't think it will happen, and it is not ideally for us.

Anyone see this Spahic guy?

Is he any good? What are his qualities and flaws?

Will we be better with him or Samba?

That's something that in footballing terms, I think I would agree with.

The problem is that if we sell Young, or to a lesser extent, Downing, we're giving those in the media who have turned against us an extension of that "selling club" stick they're already beating us with.

If not Adam, a damned good centre mid to go with Makoun is a must unless Delph steps up to the plate in the next few weeks.

Striker wise, anyone who moves more than Carew and gets into goalscoring positions better than Gabby will be a major help.

I agree with both of those points - I still think Delph will be a big player for us, but another, more experienced body would be welcome.

As for a striker, well.......it is absolutely, utterly essential.
