Maybe on loan till the end of the season, it would give him games at a high level rather than missing out in Madrid and if he gets goals then Jose would get a player back with renewed confidence- houllier seems to be on  good terms with Jose mourinho, benzema is not in their team, they have made a move for van nistleroy, benzema rates houllier very highly, And pelty seems very excited about a big signing coming, could be a win win situation all round.

He has started 6 games all season.

Karim Benzema has told fellow Frenchman Gerard Houllier he is willing to join him at Aston Villa if Real Madrid get Emmanuel Adebayor.

Benzema has only started six league games for Spanish giants Real this term and is usually a sub under boss Jose Mourinho.

The striker, who scored in France’s win over England at Wembley in November, is getting increasingly frustrated at the Bernabeu behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo. Now with Real interested in Manchester City striker Adebayor , Benzema’s prospects seem bleaker.

And he is willing to agree a loan deal that would see him working again with his old Lyon manager Houllier, who helped him make his name before a £30million move in July 2009 to Real.

Not sure if he is a genuine target but apparently Chris Samba's just made a cock-up, leading to Chelsea's 2nd goal. Could fit-in well in our back 4!

In Marca today, Mourinho says he's happy with him but the player needs to improve mentally but bringing in another striker (RVN) will drive him on to improve further. Doesn't sound like he's about to let him go out on loan.
