Has Houllier done his pre-match press conference yet? Usually it's around lunchtime two days before a game. Surely he's been asked about Makoun, Benzema etc.

The difference I think is with MON we weren't in the running at the beginning with half the players we should of been. These things have a wonderful way of coming out in the press and that just wasn't happening under MON. It is nice that Houllier is out and about and we're hearing about potential signings because at the very least it's showing intention and an ambition. I can't see us signing benzema even if just on loan in a million years but at least we've picked up the phone and spoken to someone about him. Because at least now we're in with a chance. A very slight chance but one none the less.

Well, the idea of players we 'should' have been after is quite subjective, even if we do reach a general consensus on some, such as Darren Bent. I'm not personally sure these things do eventually come out, mainly because in order to work out if they do you would have to separate them from the 99% of transfer stories that are total gargage.
