Bridge was indeed a dodged bullet;' and at £90k pw wages a large bullet.
Charlie Adam may well be this season's Bullard-transfer but - in tandem with 2-3 other transfers - should provide the solidity to push us up the league and give us the chance to manage better the introduction of our talented youth players over the next 12 months.
It will also help the manager to manage the existing recalcitrant 'senior' players who might be less-than-100% at the moment.

All of that is good, I think!

Holloway knows that the top 4 wouldn't take a punt on Adam.

He has however gone down in my estimation.

People forget that Charlie Adam is only 25. So, if anything, he could actually improve.

I think Holloway is doind what any manager would do in his situation by doing his utmost to hold on to Adam. People are being a bit precious if they are getting offended by him not calling us a top 6 club...will be a while before we are back there I fear.

£3.5 mill could turn out to be a bit of a bargain. If it doesnt work out after a year or so, we could recoup most of that as he will still be in his prime. Different to Bullard the season before last who was in his 30s.

And the comparison of Holloway to Brown is lazy and insulting. I think Holloway went out of his way not to come out with some of his trademark quotes early in the season as he feared that would be all he would be known for. He is one of the most intelligent, decent sorts in the game from anything I have read from or about him. I guarentee there will be no karaoke at Bloomfield Rd if they stay up. Unfortunately for him, it wont be his decision whether Adam stays or goes.

I see the owner of Liverpool is flying in today to meet with King Kenny.  After Adam played them off the park last night it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them come in for him and, presumably, with him living in the area would give them an advantage over us.

If he really wants him I think GH had better start moving PDQ.

Please Go Ian Holloway.

lol @ him trying to degrade us when he blatantly knows we've been a good team for the last 3-4 years and shit all over Blackpool. I think Adam is aware that he has better prospects and ambitions playing for the Villa than Blackpool. Totnumb were still able to make good signings when they were a joke a couple of seasons ago. Lettuce be reality, in the long-term we're gonna be better off than Blackpool

I really like Holloway, It's hard for him he probably wanted to keep his prize assett, prob playing a few mind games!

I'm still not convinced on Adam myself, time will tell, we have had so many of these players that look good in other teams then come to a better one and don't make the step up.

Sidwell, Draper & Curcic are three examples

I like Holloway and don't blame him for doing what he can to hold on to his star player.  However, realistically a top 4 club is not going to come in for him.  Generally speaking, they'll only sign players in his age bracket that are genuine world stars and the punt/squad signings tend to be younger with the hope of developing into said world star.  Were Adam 21/22, then maybe, but he's not so it won't happen, IMO.

While Holloway may genuinely care about where he goes, his board won't and will simply want the most wonga they can get for him.  He's still not my preferred signing, but I say offer them another £0.5m-£1m and they'll bite.

Being linked with Mark Van Bommel on Sky Transfer Centre!

If in any way true would surely mean Makoun is not a done deal?

I still think more will leave than sign this window, but thats not necessarily and bad thing.

No, as they're different players. Always been a player I've liked but he's 33 now. Maybe one last hurrah left in him.
