Aston Villa are interested in Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko but the Russian striker is expected to sign a new contract.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray have revived their interest in Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.

The Turkish side held initial talks with his representatives last year with a view taking Reo-Coker on a free transfer in the summer.

I'd love us to get Pavlyuchenko.. not that there's even the smallest chance we will.

Houlier has confirmed we are in for him Dave.

Korean - how long do you think it takes to set up a full scouting network from scratch and start to gather enough targets to make it useful? I would imagine longer than 3 months, and we have been in for a 19 year old French lad no one had heard of really, and a similar one from Barca B, but both got injuredm so fell through and taken a guy from the MLS on loan, again who no one had heard of.

I accept the scouting point but I thought he already comes with contacts?
I thought he could use his contacts to get us some decent players in January. In fact I think quite a few people's last hopes on him as a manager were based on what he could bring in this January. We're over a 3rd of the way, with some serious f**king games coming up, could he not have lined these up?

As for the French kid, he failed the medical, could no one of said to Ged 'Listen up mate, his back is like a 50 year olds, give it a miss.'

Yeah. Probably instantly after medical.

Perhaps we could arrange for our physios to accompany scouts on foreign trips. They could carry out medicals during the game so impatient fans won't have to burst into tears later.  I can't see their clubs objecting.

Lol... why what a silly time to tell someone, I mean it is not like a medical is there for those purposes!

Re the hullabaloo about contacts when he came. Maybe the players we are targeting now are slightly different to those we will target in the summer. Buying a group of players now that are all about future potential may look a little silly in January when you are in a relegation battle. So you look around and see what the team needs immediately, while de stabilizing a relegation rival is a bonus.

We're in the market for a keeper, I still think we ought to go for Westwood at Coventry.

Apparently we're after Joe Lewis, who has handed a transfer request in. Saw him pull off an amazing save or two last night on SSN. Dont know much else about him apar from being the England U21 keeper.
