After decades of bidding for one player at one price at a time, I'm glad we've got a couple of targets on the go.

I would think he wants both, and understandably, our central midfield is a bag of spanners and the most important place on the pitch. Get 2 new men in there that compliment each other and bring through the youth we might be able to see the end of Reo Coker and Petrov lulling about the place before too long. Mind boggles, he is damned either way at the moment.

My bigger fear is not getting both in. Makoun in particular but Adam is in form and looks to have a good handle on the forward midfield role, so both look very useful to me.

It is, was in big demand 18 months ago at 8-10 million sort of price, but out of form somewhat this season after not getting the move I think was touted to Liverpool in the summer. Good player when I have seen him, but not seen him at all this season - just going on what has been written in the press.

How else is our manager supposed to make it his team without going in for different types of midfielders, defenders etc? He needs players to suit his style.

Sorry, where are you picking these numbers from? I've not seen any decent source suggest that we even want Makoun.

Korean - how long do you think it takes to set up a full scouting network from scratch and start to gather enough targets to make it useful? I would imagine longer than 3 months, and we have been in for a 19 year old French lad no one had heard of really, and a similar one from Barca B, but both got injuredm so fell through and taken a guy from the MLS on loan, again who no one had heard of.

Sorry, where are you picking these numbers from? I've not seen any decent source suggest that we even want Makoun.

"Still, whatever gets you pounding your fists into your keyboard..." I've got a clue what's going on in this transfer window, Lyon want £7 million and we're not prepared to pay an extra 1 million. There's numerous sources about this.

I get Adam and Makoun are different types of players, I actually think Adam's done really well this season too, I just don't get why we're trying to be so tight over the matter of peanuts. I understand we want to go a bit lower first to see if either selling clubs would accept a first offer, but it just seems silly if we don't sign either player just because we're being tight and immature. If Houllier can't get both players in, he atleast has to get one or the other. We'll see what happens though, hopefully we can get both but it's going to be quite hard getting Blackpool's talisman as I don't see why they would sell their best player unless they need some money.
