I must admit the more I hear about we can't afford this and that the more I begin to understand why mon walked out- I just hope it's all bollocks and randy backs GED with plenty cash.

It is easy copy though isn't it. Journo links us with Barton. Then writes 4 articles about this fantasy, culminating in the final chapter of a high fee and not affording the wage, when we are not even interested. We have a quote from Randy last summer saying the wages need to come down. Beye, Carew, Sidwell and Warnock make up 10 million of that 70 million wage bill. Get them out and I think there is room for others to come in. Fees are not as important as the wage bill by the way it looks.

It's the future. Soon only the biggest, richest clubs will be signing players in the middle of a contract, and paying top dollar.

So Matt kendrick says he failed a medical and Houllier says it's to do with wages. In my eyes that means he wanted too much money for a young unproven teenager who plays in the french second tier.

Regarding Makoun this just popped up.

For me it says he wanted too much money for a player trying to conceal a back problem.

Well it doesn't matter now, because he isn't coming.

I just hope we do make the right signings in this window!

Shrek, that is a woefully written re hash of articles over the last few days with a sensational headline.

I'd like to think that these 'can'f afford' and 'priced out of' type headlines, are basically just easy copy.

I thought that, but it is annoying because we are in the shit now and need fresh players asap!

I must admit I would be disappointed if we didn't sign Makoun

The numbers involved in Premier league football are big numbers.

£70m in wages is a lot of money but the average wage bill in the Premier League was £65m.

£10m for Beye, Carew, Sidwell and Warnock is a lot of money but we allocated more than £10m in Management Fees and Debt Interest payments to Reform Acquisitions Limited.

It's all relative.

I spy with my little eye a not very subtle "Randy's taking money out of the club" argument.

For me, it says Hou wanted to protect a young French player by claiming money rather than fitness issues broke the deal.
Unless you know different, Damon, either story could be right.

About as subtle as an air raid.

Sorry. Just love that simile.
