If both clubs were willing to match Bridges terms then why wouldn't he opt to go there instead of here. I preusme he'd be cuptied for the league cup (but if not he has a potential Wembley trip to look forward to) and he wants to live in London.

He's also more likely to get a permanent contract there than he is here if they stay up...

Bit disappointed about missing out on Weidenfeller though.

Had we held on against Fulham, Man Utd and Chelsea we'd be about 10th. I wonder if that'd make the difference in the chase for signings.

My point about Bannon is not that he isn't skilfull it's that in the time i've watched him he's good with the ball at his feet but he can't tackle and is hopeless with the ball in the air, his size and weight plays a role in this.

i must say i'm glad bridge isn't coming. 90k a week on an average at best player just seems silly to me. if he was something special i could have understood it. hopefully those wages will be spent elsewhere now

I hate this player snobbery that seems to drift into transfer discussions. 'Kid from Spurs', 'midfielder from Blackpool', etc. So a guy plays for little Blackpool... so what? Doesn't mean he can't play. Before that he was Glasgow Rangers (though had we signed Charlie Adam from them it would have been 'Scottish football's rubbish'. Since he's been at Blackpool, they've won promotion, now they're performing well (better than us) in the PL. Adam's their key player.

It's not about - or not always about - the club they play for. It's about spotting a player.

Or David Platt from Crewe?
A good £100.000 buy that one and a certain Dwight Yorke who had heard of him before we signed him and didnt the Doc say he will never be a footballer!!!

According to SSN when they are not drooling over Beckham in training (what a circus that is) he is having a medical how may of those did Sidwell have?

Lets hope his scouting network work and continental contacts pulls someone out of the bag soon. Surely he know's someone just as good as Wayne Bridge that wouldn't cost 70 grand a week. Surely?!?

I hope so.

Personally, I'm not remotely bothered that Wayne Bridge isn't coming. He's in the same pack as Sidwell and SWP, players who opted for easy street at Chelsea and have never looked anything other than decidedly average since.

"Coming soon we'll have pictures of David Beckham in Spurs training gear, on the Spurs training pitch, training with Spurs players"

that is a real quote from a SSN reporter "LIVE" outside the Spurs training ground this morning. I had to turn it off.

Disappointed not to get bridge but I can see why it would be a tough choice for him- west ham are nearer his family and despite what some may think are only a point behind us in the league and in a semi final.

I expect GED has other targets and the fact we've been linked with and put bids in for several players suggests we will see a few more additions yet, could well be he's waiting to get a left back in before triggering the rumoured samba and warnock swap- sometimes one deal can trigger a knock on effect, I'd hope we get a couple in before the blues game.

Watching Owen against Liverpool and he looked back to his fittest.
He'd be worth a punt.
Or at least a euro

Vomit inducing.

Shows how hard up they are for a story, rolling coverage of a bloke training.
