I hate this player snobbery that seems to drift into transfer discussions. 'Kid from Spurs', 'midfielder from Blackpool', etc. So a guy plays for little Blackpool... so what? Doesn't mean he can't play. Before that he was Glasgow Rangers (though had we signed Charlie Adam from them it would have been 'Scottish football's rubbish'. Since he's been at Blackpool, they've won promotion, now they're performing well (better than us) in the PL. Adam's their key player.

Re Walker. He was an outstanding prospect two years ago, as was Kyle Naughton, both signed by Spurs, neither getting a look-in. Spurs have a different agenda to us right now, Walker can't get in their side, they have Hutton and Corluka in their squad. He can get in ours, we have Luke Young injured and something of a raw prospect in Eric Lichaj. Can Walker improve us at RB? I think so. Adam, in CM? Well, we're struggling in there, have done all season, so it's a start. Better than Sidwell? Sure. Better than Petrov and NRC? Quite possibly/probably, bearing in mind their form and, in Petrov's case, advancing years.

It's not about - or not always about - the club they play for. It's about spotting a player.

If Ged was actually in for this player,

That is the real question.

He was quoted as saying we were talking to Man City about him last week.

Watching Owen against Liverpool and he looked back to his fittest.
He'd be worth a punt.

Think I'll wait until I see it somewhere other than The Daily Star before I accept this as 100% gospel.

"Wayne Bridge last night agreed terms to move on loan from Manchester City to West Ham United until the end of the season..."

The Independent - Clicky

SSN now reporting he's having a medical down there. We've just been rejected for West Ham, Jesus Christ.

Before 'he wants to live in London' starts up - We pay for Pires to travel up everyday! It's not exactly the other end of the earth he could be down there in an hour or two.

If Ged was actually in for this player, it's a bit shit he couldn't convince him to come here over that shower of shite.

Somewhat simplistic.

What if, for example, he doesn't fancy commuting two hours each way every day? I did that myself for a few years and it isn't much fun.

All this "OMG we've been rejected for team x" stuff is indicative that a few people need to man up a bit and stop being quite so hysterical about things.

Sorry but all those bigging Bannon up will be disapointed, he is a talent no doubt but just his size will find him out in  the prem. Far to easily knocked of the ball, two stone heavier and five inches taller and he woul.d be great.

just like juninho and zola? dont talk rubbish man, players adapt their game to suit their physical stature...

This is a site of opinions, only the future will tell us who is right, i would never call someones opinion rubbish because i've learnt you can end up with egg on your face. Each to his own though.

It woudl be a different matter if he'd chosen them over us for a permanent deal but as it is a move to London for 6 months suits him better than coming to us. I just hoe that the manager has other options.

Apparently he is 5'7", although he does look shorter than that. That is about the same height as each of the three in the shortlist for World Footballer of the year.

Adam is a no risk signing, relatively low wages and in this day and age a very cheap fee.

If we signed him for £4m, it didn't work out and we wanted to shift him on, we'd get most of that back.

The risk comes when he hits the pitch not the fecking balance sheet. When did we become an asset management company?

That's true, but he's shown he's a more than capable Premier League footballer, my point is he's a calculated risk - if he's unable to do it infront of 40k (perhaps even less if things keep going like they are) every week then we can shift him on to a smaller club for a minimal loss.

It's not being hysterical mate, I'm just a bit surprised that Ged can't convince a player to join us over West Ham, I thought we were a bit better than them. London or no London I thought Ged could attract him here.

Lets hope his scouting network work and continental contacts pulls someone out of the bag soon. Surely he know's someone just as good as Wayne Bridge that wouldn't cost 70 grand a week. Surely?!?
