Knew he would choose the spam cause he has family down there. Saves 70k a week. Surely we can get a decent left back either here or europe. Hope Houllier has a plan B ??

our current plan A isn't bad. If we keep Warnock he's plan B. Bridge is a good player, but it wasn't an essential area for us to add. Like everyone else, I want a midfielder or two, and more importantly someone to bang the ball in the back of the net.

Why would he come to Villa on loan for a few months? He stays in the same City now.

More importantly his little one lives in London. Given the opportunity to be close to them I would take it. Shame for us though, as I think he will do well for West Ham.

Mind you don't they have Illunga who always looked decent on highlights?

Think Arsenal would bite on a cheeky loan for Gibbs for 5 months!?

I'm relieved, the signing of Bridge (even just on loan) had disaster written all over it. He's terrible.

Couldn't care less that we didn't get Bridge, no better than Warnock in my view.
Enormous wages as well.

Is it a false perception on my behalf that we as a club over the years seldom have deals concluded quickly? sometimes it is like drawing teeth. Agony as we really do need to strengthen quickly.

Bridge is only a slight improvement on Warnock,so no big loss there. Clark can do a job till the summer.

I'd be happier with another left back though. Maybe we were trying to save money for another target by loaning Bridge and will now have to bite the bullet and sign a permanent option?

What's happened to Zhirkov? I know its probably a long shot but worth a try. Unless he's injured or something.

I agree. I go on my immediate gut reaction here to missing out on a player and I have to express almost zero on the disappointment register. Hugely over-rated and over-paid player, the fact that he has ever got anywhere near the England team speaks volumes about the state of the national game...

So some of our fans are moaning about the Charlie Adam links.

Well..... Spurs are after Phil Neville.

Commuting from Manchester to London? Or does he still live in London?

I won't back track - think Bridge is a useful player and would have liked him.  But we move on and if A N Other leftback doesn't come in I'm happy enough with Clark there until the summer.

And something else just occurred to me - anyone think we're trying to offload Davies as part of the Samba deal?  Although I think another CB isn't necessary right now, it makes more sense if Curtis goes and Clark is to be LB.  Were we to get him for Warnock and Davies I think that's a good deal.  Luke Young can then be first option for both fullback spots and we'd have 4 CBs in Samba, Dunne, Collins and Cuellar.

No doubt Bridge wanted to move back to London, and the fact he worked with Grant previously at Chelsea.

Personally, I'm not moaning as I don't think he's awful, just no better than what we have.  It would be an 'OK' signing and one for a club expecting to be in an around the midtable area and not one for those with top 6, and higher, aspirations.
