Sky Sports News understands Aston Villa have had a £2.5million bid for Charlie Adam knocked back by Blackpool.

The Scotland international has made the step up into the Premier League with consummate ease this season, having shone for the Seasiders as they secured promotion into the big time last term.

He has netted four goals in all competitions, including three in the top flight, as Blackpool have held their own among England's elite.

Their success has seen a number of their stars fall under the microscope, with Adam considered to be the ace in Ian Holloway's pack.
Valuation

The Seasiders boss admitted over the weekend that he would not be averse to cashing in on Adam, but has made it clear that the price must be right.

Villa's approach would appear to fall some way short of the valuation Blackpool have placed on a player they snapped up for £500,000 from Rangers in August 2009.

It remains to be seen whether Gerard Houllier will return with an improved bid, but the Villans are not the only side chasing the 25-year-old midfielder.

Villa's local rivals Birmingham are also believed to be in the running, although a proposed £2million offer from the Blues will be given short shrift by Blackpool.

Sandman , why are you so worried about the wage bill, it's results that matter and Adam has looked a decent premiership player, at the price being touted he seems like a decent enough signing and I wouldn't expect reo coker or petrov to be here next season- makoun would be the key signing but why not get adam as well - maybe we will be selling more than we think.

Brigde, walker, samba, Adam, makoun , cummings and another striker and keeper would give us new impetus.

Carew, ireland, sidwell, warcock , davies and reo - coker out and it would be be good pruning!

Bannan played 20 games last season for Blackpool so he will be well aware of Adam and his playing style.

why anyone would want reo-coker to leave is beyond me. thrash out a deal, sign him back up and make him club captain at the end of the season....

Really hope this is true, Adam is a replacement for the shite Petrov.
I wouldn't have thought so, Adam is an attacking midfielder, Petrov is defensive.

And if Petrov is shite, I'd like some more goals off him, like that shite one he scored on Saturday.

yes it was a good goal but they are very rare and now he is playing more attacking and reo is defensive,  petrov is an attacking midfielder and that is what he done at celtic.  still have adam any day over him though,  i think charlie adam and reo will be a very good partnership

Anyone know what Blackpool want for him?

I think these valuations are known within certain circles, so if we've bid £2.5m and SHA have bid £2m, then presumably we're in the ball park and they are expecting maybe £3-4m tops?

If so then I have to ask wht is he valued so relatively lowly at the age of 25 if he's as good as some on here believe?  The article above says they signed him in August 2009, so it's not as if he'll be nearing the end of his contract!

He (or a player of his type) is useful to have to stiffen up midfield, but I struggle to think of another player you can rely on so much to fuck up a simple five yard pass.

Still, he does good group huddles and captain style pointing. At least he used to, when he was arsed.

Get rid.

Petrov scored all those goals and played further forward as he was the best player in Scotland.  The more defensive role is better suited to him and that's where he plays for Bulgaria also.

Anyone know what Blackpool want for him?

I'd offer £2.5m + Osborne and Salifou.

In other words, £2,500,000.02p

Back to Wayne Bridge, how embarrassing is it going to be if he turns us down for West Ham?

As we have one left back, who is in wretched form, I wouldn't mind it if Bridge didn't turn us down to be honest.

I'd take Bridge - always thought he was a decent player that was wasted sitting on Chelsea's and then Man City's benches.

Wouldn't be concerned about Reo-Coker leaving as his legs have gone, Hogg's a better player
