Charlie Adam = little fish/big pond syndrome.

Erm, other way round maybe?!

I meant it as what he'd be were he to join us or similar 'big' club.

horrible character but barton is the kind of player we need - wouldnt be happt with him , dunne and ireland teaming up again in the dressing room.

when did we last have a nasty hard player in midfield of the bremner, savage, keane, type?

He'd be another Sidwell.

Totally disagree, Sidwell doesn't want too improve as a player all he cares about is money. He went Chelsea for money, then didn't leave us in the summer because of money.

Charlie Adam looks hungry and has alot more quality than Sidwell, ideal replaemt for Petrov!

With Owen we should get him for this season, it's no risk.

I think you're being a little unfair on Sidwell.  OK, he's not good enough playing wise, but if it was just money he could have carried on at Chelsea earning his wage and all those lovely bonuses the squad surely get for winning trophies.  He was also prepared to leave last summer as he wasn't playing.

In the Villa side Adam would no longer be the best player and instead would need to adapt his game to those around him.  I might be wrong, but I don't think he can do that and would just be another squad filler getting in the way of the likes of Delph and Bannan, plus young Gardner, who are at least as good as him now.

Savage, hard?!?! Haha

Dunne really hates the bloke doesn't he? Broke his foot after kicking a wall, was to do with Barton. That should add to our already fantastic team spirit  :o

If he helps us stay up then we can sign Harold Shipman to be honest.

Not Harold Shipman - his defense was rubbish!

SSN reporting we've had a £2.5m bid for Charlie Adam turned down by Blackpool.

I hope we up the bid. He's impressed me every time I've seen him play.

If they are reporting rejections I assume they are trying to smoke out anymore bidders and up the price?

Wayne Bridge will decide whether to join Aston Villa or West Ham in the next 48 hours, skysports.com understands.

The England international is surplus to requirements at Manchester City and they are ready to let him leave on loan.

Both Villa and West Ham are ready to match his sizeable wages at Eastlands, leaving the two clubs battling it out for his signature.

Avram Grant and Gerard Houllier have held talks with the player in order to persuade him to join their respective causes.

Now Bridge is set to make a decision on his future, with both teams hopeful of sealing his signature on a deal for the rest of the season.

Anyone know if this is instead of or in addition to Makoun?

Probably instead. I think he's a good player. Good pass, clever, and hopefully can elbow Ash off set piece duties. Is he good enough for where we were aspiring to last season? No. Can he help us pull out this season, and estbalish mid-table next year? Yes. Says it all as to where we aspire to be these days.

Bridge comes here, Warnock goes to Blackburn, Samba comes here, Frankie goes to Hollywood. Sorted.

I would be delighted if we signed Adam, a superb cultured midfielder.
I have to say i'm really impressed with the targets Houllier is chasing, he knows what sort of player he wants and just goes and gets them, unlike MON who would have waited until they were all sold then buy a Habib Beye to shore up the gaps.

Or, he's a much better squad option than Sidwell. He wouldn't be instead of Makoun. Completely different types of players.
