actually it was more aimed at Dave's point about offering players new contracts based on their form this season

Rooney had a yr left after this season hence the £25m rumours about him going- now he's tied up long term it would probably take £50m plus to buy him.

However much you may want to offer improved contracts though if the player doesn't agree to sign then the club are over a barrel- it's a case of cash in now or lose the player for nothing. We tried to keep Barry and milner but neither agreed to sign an extended contract according to mon , so what choice was there- if ash doesn't sign it would be better to sell him than get nothing a year later.

I don't think anyone disagrees with the 'sign or sell' policy, just with Gregs notion than we've been negligent in letting it get to this stage.

Personally, I think we need him now to help ensure survival, so whatever we lose between now and the summer needs to be accepted.  We have money so £18m now or £12m later it isn't really that big a blow to us.

Warnock & Collins? Your having a laugh aint ya?

I still think we should keep Warnock! He was doing well before his injury. Maybe just needs a bit of competition

Of the 2 I'd keep Collins rather than warnock personally- at least Collins gives his all during games, not sure how good samba is to be honest , he has never stood out as a great defender whenever I've watched Blackburn , but i'd be happy to see the back of warnock.

- many people have told me warnock was a very good left sided midfielder when he played for Coventry and was their player of the season , but as a left back he is not up to it!

Fuck off, if Samba is better than Collins why is he still stuck at Blackburn?

Could he be any worse?

Yes is the simple answer.

I disagree, i actually think that you could do a better job than Collins has this season.

I like Samba alot and think he and Cuellar could be very effective together. Collins has been very poor of late but is worth keeping for now. Warnock and 2-3 million is the most I would pay for Samba.

I like the way this window is panning out. I don't rate Bridge much, but I don't rate Warnock either. If we ship Warnock out and take Bridge for 5 months then come the Summer we'll have a free spot to get someone else... Which will be nice.

Same with Collins, I like him but if Ged doesn't rate him in his system them swap him for someone who he does (Samba).

Makoun is a quality player, someone I suggested many times. Would be very happy with that. Champions League experienced as well.

Cannot for the life of me see where a striker is gonna come from.

The signing of makoun would be the key but I'm sure we will see a striker arrive in the next 3 weeks as well- I'd still like to see a keeper arrive but with walker and maybe bridge and samba then at least houllier is beginning to shape his team as he wants it- should be an exciting 3 weeks ahead.

He's Cummings from Colorado Rapids, if we decide to offer him a deal that is.

You are correct, it should be. But it won't.

The lad linked with us and Newcastle - Traore - for 3-4 million from Cluj looks like he would be the kind of one we need. 6 foot 8, powerful and got time to improve. I am sure he has been scouted.

Interesting I looked on the Rovers forum on their thread that the Nicko bloke posts on, and he called the Warnock deal to us very early, basically saying that Samba is desperate to get away and the latest deal that has been mooted from both sides is the Collins/ Warnock swap. If we were swapping Collins and Warnock for Samba and Bridge I would take that like a shot. Samba is a better defender from what I have seen of Collins, Bridge is better than Warnock too.

Interesting to read their opinions on Samba too. Those that watch him all the time think he is a top centre half for them. They really do not want Warnock back though!

He's spent the last two years at Big Sam's Blackburn, it would be a minor miracle if he's even attempted a pass.
