If on loan he won't be able to play.

Comes back to the wages thing though, and the bad apple. If Carew is influencing others against GH, then he has to go, full stop. Agreed to Albion is not ideal, especially as they have a creative midfield and he will get a lot of goals there, but he has to go.

Carew has clearly burned his bridges and is highly highly unlikely to do it for us again.

However, selling him now to a relegation rival who have problems scoring, especially given Carew's propensity for starting really well at new clubs, is absolutely stupid.

Not to a relegation rival. He'll guarantee their survival

Also, it MUST mean we are signing at least 1, if not 2 strikers imminently, cause if not, then I will turn from givning GH time to saying it is not on and getting rid, selling a striker who scores when in the mood is fine, but not replacing him when we are already desperately short up front is suicidal.

I'm no fan of Carew's attitude but loaning him out to a relegation rival would be asking for trouble.
The main reason he's not performing here is cos he doesn't get on with Houllier. He'll be pinging them in at the Hawthorns.I honestly think we've got a death wish.

What about the beginning of this season and the end of last which he spent walking around the pitch clapping his hands.

Waste of space, I don't care where he goes.

What is the point of keeping a player who clearly dont want to play for the current manager ?? you cannot keep a player on the basis that he "might" play well for a rival team. He had been shit well before Houllier arrived. So get rid and bring in fresh, hungry players and slash the wage bill. Put that money into players who want to get on that pitch and play there hearts out for AVFC ............

Strengthening a rival is silly*, especially as WBA's form is almost as bad as ours as he could give them just the boost they need. There must be other options for loaning Carew out, several clubs must be happy to take him. He's a big enough name around Europe.

* whereas giving Sidwell to Fulham or Wolves could be a masterstroke... ;)

Will you be saying  that if Albion stay up and we get relegated ?
I'm beginning to think GH is not the full ticket

Will I be saying he's a waste of space? Yes.

I think Albion will stay up anyway, I don't think Carew lumbering around for them will make much difference.

If West Brom are relegated and we stay up will you come out and say it was the correct decision?

Replacing a left back who has forgotten how to defend with one who has never be able to defend is a worrying sign.

I agree fully Ozzjim. I have resisted giving GH a hard time to date but if we are going to rely for the next few weeks on an out of form and injury prone (this season) forward, a rookie reserve and an MLS loanee, then I'm afraid I would have to agree that he has totally lost the plot

I might even wonder if he is starting to do it deliberately...

I hope we sign Bridge. Simply so we can get the "Villa's Bridge over troubled water" headlines.

Carew to West brom and Bridge to Villa. This is a bad dream. Houllier is in proper gambling stage now. I think it would be a lot safer for Lerner to get rid of Houllier and bring someone else in quickly to get the most out of the players currently at the club. The major transformation can take place in the summer. This is crazy stuff.

I'm actually going to cry. Another shit back up English left back on crazy wages is the last thing we need.
