Could be legit, could be bobbins.

I have no idea as to the virtue of said bird.
I personally think Twitter is a playground for idiots but there you go. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Its from VT by the way.

The Mail;

Monaco prepared to swap striker Dieumerci Mbokani for Aston Villa misfit Stephen Ireland

Stephen Ireland could follow in the footsteps of Glenn Hoddle and John Collins after Monaco made it clear they will consider a swap deal with Aston Villa for him and Dieumerci Mbokani.
Monaco made their interest in Ireland known last week with chief executive Marc Keller, a former West Ham and Portsmouth midfielder, a confirmed fan of the 24-year-old.
Ireland is attracting attention from Premier League clubs but is rated at around £7m by Villa which is prohibitive while the player himself is unsure whether to leave as speculation continues over Gerard Houllier's long-term future.

However, Monaco are ready to use 6ft 1ins striker Mbokani having decided to offload him and knowing that Villa are among a group of clubs to express interest.

Mbokani, who has attracted inquiries from Everton and West Ham, would fit into Villa's style with his pace and power and is keen to work with a French coach such as Houllier.

Meanwhile, Curtis Davies returned to Aston Villa yesterday, and was subject of an inquiry by Queen's Park Rangers.

Davies finished a loan spell at Leicester City and was waiting to hear whether their £2.5m offer would be accepted. QPR's request comes after Villa asked to take Kyle Walker on loan from Tottenham who has been key to QPR's promotion drive this season.

Plz let this happen... Mbokani is quality - he's exactly the 'type' of striker we need.

Seen his name linked to a few clubs...what's Mbokani's scoring record like recently?

Not amazing since he went to Monaco. Was good in Belgium though.

Houllier wants Huddersfield hero to be a Villan

Gerard Houllier is lining up a £1.5million bid for Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

The Aston Villa boss has targeted Smithies, 20, after seeing him in action in the Terriers’ League One victory over Sheffield Wednesday on Monday.

The England Under-21 international is one of the most highly-rated keepers outside the top flight.

Rangers’ Allan McGregor could also be a Villa target as Houllier plans to shake up his goalkeeping options.

Judging by his performance tonight, Dickson Etuhu is one i'd keep an eye on, he's stil only 28 and could be a decent ball winning player for us. Maybe a short term replacement for Petrov or Reo?

Shades of a typical MoN signing to me, and his age combined with him not being very good doesn't make the whole affair particularly attractive.

It's almost as if said journalist has been browsing forums, seen the thread on here about GH being at that match and decided to run with that name.

Is that not the name a director uses on the credits if he wants to disown a film?

Warnock plays shit , deserves to get dropped and then throws toys out of pram. Get him out quick  ( If true of course)...

Im liking the sound of some of these potential signings...  the foreign ones I mean... That huddlesfield goalie is really rated as well...

I'd get Samba in.

I too usually thought he was just a lumbering oaf but watched him a bit more and he is reasonably quick (although Gabby has got the better of him a few times).

I'd give them 3m + Davies.

Samba is only a year younger than Collins. Collins is going through a bad patch at present but proved he was a better player than Samba last season and will do again. If we want a footballing centre half Samba certainly isnt worth considering. We already have physical centre halves in Collins, Davies, Dunne and Cuellar.

We will lose a packet on Warnock.
