Having just watched a very bizarre interview on Sky with the new owners at Blackburn, I would get some money on them to be relegated. Perhaps not this season, but definitely next.

Done! I have €20 on @ 9/1 to be relegated and €5 on @ 50/1 to finish bottom. For me, it's Blackburn, SHA and A.N. Other to go down.

Good man, as someone who had Pompey last year to go down and Boro the year before that, both bets placed at the start of the season when the odds were good (I got 9/1 on Boro!), you have listened wisely. Oh, and I have West Ham this year at 9/2, again placed at the start of the season before a ball had been kicked. Not sure they will finish bottom but the 9/1 to be relegated is a good 'long shot'. I do suspect, however, that it will be an even better bet next season...

Try and see the interview on Sky, it was positively freakish and surreal, difficult to describe really...

Anyway its good to see us being linked to players further afield than scotland. I know we joked about us not having european scouts but its seems that wasn't far from the truth if the stories about us setting up a scouting network only now are true. Unbelievable in this day and age

We were always getting linked with players from Europe, it's just we never bought any.

i think that was the papers crediting us with looking further afield than we actually did. I mean GH has actually talked about a foreign player as a target which is more than MON ever did

The world has gone mad with Blackburn giving Ronaldinho 20 million over three years and then the Villa offering 5 million and Davies for Samba!

If any of that has actually happened. Which I find unlikely.

Whilst that's true Greg and MON did'nt do it enough, it's not done Liverpool a fat lot of good, most of theirs are bloody hopeless.

There's a blance to be struck with overseas players.

I just wish we'd have recruited the odd 2 or 3, maybe we wouldn't then be spending a ridiculous 85% of our turnover on wages.

One shocking example of how players and agents must see Villa Park as a treasure trove.

Beye (might as well never have joined) on 5 year contract at £40k pw - Over 10 million.

I also think the new strategy that has been mooted of buying players with ptoential and sell on value is sensible, and will hopefully avoid some of the silly wages on reserves as they will be the younger players.

Has Flamini been involved in Milan's opening games does anyone know? I wonder if he has an opinion on Houllier or has any experience of how he works .

Flamimi hasn't played in the first two games wasn't on the bench either.

I was watching a show on Milan the other night.  It was in spanish so I did not understand much but it was saying that Flamini is on $4.5m a year.  That's about $87k or £65-week.

Hmmm, I was actually expecting that to be a bigger number, however it is still a lot of money.  Do you think he would take a pay-cut to come to Villa?

yes but to match his wages we would need to pay more as our top end tax rate is significantly higher.

I always thought that them gettin Van Der Vaat was something to do with Bale going there.
