The difference between Rooney and Adebayor was demonstrated in injury time of the game just shown. Can anyone seriously imagine Adebayor coming back on with an injury for the last 5 minutes? Whatever you think of Rooney as a man you cannot question his commitment on the pitch.

In any case I think this whole thing is purely hypothetical as I don't think we can afford his wages.

There's a possible deal to be done, but Citeh don't need the money, so I tend to agree.

People seem to forget how Adebayor was greatly affected by the African Nations shooting incident. Can't knock him for that.

Adebayor is not gonna fight and battle for us when most of the time he can not do it for city. We would just end up with a very expensive Carew. Tevez is a totally different ball game mentality wise. Still fancy a punt at Traore .....

Has Omar Sharif signed yet?

No where to park his camel!  Unless he uses the bike racks on the wall just outside the players car park.

That'll give him the hump - so sorry, do I win a prize for most obvious joke so far of 2011?

If you’re going to engage in petty racism/xenophobia (delete as applicable) then at least look at a map and see what the distance is between the Middle East and Jamaica. You might make yourselves sound less dim-witted.

Aye. can't see how he wouldn't improve our striking options. people have been moaning on here about us giving a trial to a yank based striker and now they're turning their noses up to a 25m striker? mad

Because he's a £25m striker with a stroppy attitude who only went to City for the money and a fat lot of good he's done there. Good player but not want you want in a possible relegation dog fight.

so you'd turn down rooney on the same grounds? Pray tell who is your ideal target bearing in mind we have 15m at most to spend on all deficiences in our squad

Well if you've watched Rooney via your satellite contraption today, you'll see he ran his arse off all over the pitch and i think most people would have him in their side over Adebayor. Besides, Rooney is'nt a £25m pound striker.

he still has exactly the same traits as adeboyer. i mean at least Adebayor isn't happy because he can't get a game. rooney wanted out because he was worried about his salary. But i digress, who would you go for? given your criteria. lots of bottle, non-temperamental. falls into our price range?

Sorry that sounds a bit arsey but who?

You were the one who was questioning our players not having any bottle, and you want Adebayor?

Even before that happened, he wanted out of Arsenal as soon as he heard how much Man City were going to pay him. He was probably planning his next move from Man City just after he joined them.

I'm not knocking his footballing ability, he's a very talented, but if we do get sucked into a relegation fight, is he really what we want up at Wigan on a Tuesday night?

To be fair, the joke is that Omar is the name of the actor Omar Sharif, who is of Egyptian descent, hence the posters are carrying on as if we'd signed that Omar, rather than the one we have signed (who isn't the homosexual Baltimore native bad motherfucker Omar, either).

Our Salifou is still having trouble sleeping after that shooting.

So much so he can't make himself available for anything.

I once spoke to a Vietnamese guy in some prison and I knew I had seen him at another prison at the start of his stretch. (Ark at me with all the prison slang) Anyway, I said to him as much and via the interpreter he said, "I don't know, they all look the same to me (whites"). I loved it. If i said that to him I'd be accused of all sorts. I found it quite endearing. Like a badge of honour.

If that's a veiled attempt at casual racism against the French, or the people of any nation that eat (or sell) a lot of onions for that matter, especially if they have a non-white skin-tone, I'll be quite furious.
