Count me as one who would very much be in favour of getting Adebayor in.
A cock who talks in monotone but a goalscorer without doubt.

Adebayor - It makes me laugh on here. Aren't most top players 'cocks'? Take Rooney for example, a plonker with plenty of baggage but no doubting a top player. Tevez, recently proved he's a bit of plonker and the list goes on. Players play football and I'm not overly concerned what they choose to do in their own time. The people that call these players cocks are the same ones that would call Shearer 'Mary Poppins' so it's swings and roundabouts.

People were making the same excuses about why we should sign Ireland.

What we need are players with some bottle to help battle our way out of the position we find ourselves not ones who are going to sulk if things don't go their way.

Players don't play for a manager these days, they play for themselves. If they have the hunger then the team benefits. Money means most players are divs.

We want players playing for the team, not themsleves. If Adebayor can't motivate himself at man City I don't see why anyone would expect him to do it at Villa. He's a good player (when it suits him) but not what we need now.

His ability is what we need right now. He's a top class striker and I wouldn't worry about any shenanigans at Man City.
He wouldn't be alone in falling off the radar at that circus.

Aye. can't see how he wouldn't improve our striking options. people have been moaning on here about us giving a trial to a yank based striker and now they're turning their noses up to a 25m striker? mad

It's the Ireland situation all over again; because he's a good player people are ignoring his attitude problems.

It's like a woman who goes out with a bloke who is never faithful believeing she'll be the one to tame him. It never happens.

Yep, silly season though isn't it....whoever we sign will be unproven, no quality and a gamble or too pricey, unsettling in the dressing room and a bad influence...

Adebayor? Yes feckin' please !!

Adebayor is a mercenary sullen typical modern footballer, no different from rooney, drogba torres. Ireland's just a nutjob. see Collymore, Curcic etc..

Happy New Year Chris.

There are similarities with Ireland, but the difference here is the short term nature of it. This all hypothetical because everything is speculation, but he needs to play to get a move to club he actually wants to play for. He'd get that with us, and possibly help us along the way. A 6 month deal to the end of the season wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Yes, he's an almighty cock, but he can also play a bit. We need a bit of real proven quality right now.

If he plays, he scores goals.
Since his early 20s he's been a 1 in 2 striker. We cant afford to turn our nose up at this level of player if there is any chance.

Nico Kranjcar - has anyone mentioned him ?

He's the type of player we could do with, he can shoot as well as create.

Leeds and Leicester are leading the chase for Aston Villa's Isaiah Osbourne, skysports.com understands.

The 23-year-old midfielder has failed to feature under Gerard Houllier this term and is now looking for a loan switch.

Osbourne has impressed during previous spells in the Championship with Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough, and now a number of clubs are looking to take him.

Skysports.com understands up to half-a-dozen clubs are wanting to take Osbourne, with Leeds and Leicester heading the chase.

Osbourne's current deal is due to expire in the summer, but he realises a move away from Villa Park is required to kick-start his career

crikey goodbye then

I'm not sure creation is the issue. It's having some grit and bite to break down attacks and defend leads. Kranjcar's right now would be a bit of a luxury in my opinon.

And he was more like 1 in 2 1/2. We don't do regular goalscorers.
