Fofana could have failed on the grounds of finding some long term problem, like when Aly Cissokho didn't go to Milan because the Lab showed that his teeth were so weird that they'd one day affect his posture and balance.

Brad on his way out??

skysportsnews

Good. Patently not up to it in my book. The fact that Hull want him tells you all you need to know I think...
1 month loan deal sorted.

Some very hypocritical people on here.

If that's aimed at me then have the balls to say it.

I'd also like you to explain wjy mot signing a player we mostly quite excited about signing is "great news". It might be sensible business practice, or it might not be, but that's not the same thing at all.

As a fan of the football team rather than the business I'm much more concerened about us having a good team on the pitch that a healthy profit and loss acoount.

It will help build his confidence and experience. I assume we will have a call back clause if Brad Snr is injured so it is a very sensible deal.

Presumably they signed Ronaldinho on the dentists day off?

bottom line is if he wants more than the club are prepared to pay, he won't join. Doesn't matter who's in charge. going to be a lot of this until we repair the mistakes of MON's reign and get the wage bill under control

That's a very poor reflection on the executives at the club if a football manager is the one responsible for a badly balanced wage bill. Does that mean that the board were allowing MON to just pay players what he thought was right and nobody was monitoring expenditure or forecasts? What very poor management and business.

they obviously backed him to the hilt. when he said he wanted more players, they thought he'd actually pick them and get us into the CL places or at least win something. When he failed, something had to give as they couldn't keep sustaining 40m losses every year

If we don't sign a 'keeper I'd be amazed. Why would we risk it otherwise?

It appears the Forfana deal fell through based on wages not a medical

Strange as he's young and supposedly talented and you'd have thought the board could have seen this as a shrewd investment, the lad could be worth millions in a couple of years time

Looking at GH's comments and reading between the lines, it looks as though this lad wants far more than the comparable young players already at the club.  Paying a lot more to a young player can really upset the pay structure.  If this is the case, he must have wanted quite a bit more.  It is a bit different for a senior player when there are many other things to take into account to justify wages that are different to others.

Exactly, think how many promising young players we have and how we could quite easily upset all of them in one swoop by bringing in a similar player on inflated wages. It's the wage structure that has got us into our current predicament and yet some people want us to go and perpetuate the problem.

Has Ivanhoe ever had his teeth checked?

It was a general remark, but aimed at you aswell I suppose.

We all want the best for Aston Villa, we have just finished a period where we signed alot of average players and paid them alot of money, resulting in us having a very high wage bill.
We have now took a stand and changed our approach and people are moaning.

I am disappointed but let's face it lads he is a young french lad who has never played at the highest level in France never mind England.

We are in a transitional period where we are changing our recruitment policy, which includes not giving in to players high wage demands, especially young inexperienced 19 year olds.

Remember aswell guys that the crowda are well down at Villa Park, so there is even more emphasis on reducing the wage bill.

Are you all on the stupid pills today? Who has said we should "perpetuate the problem"? If you want to try to convince yourself that not signing a promising young players is great news I can't stop you but at least make an effort to try to understand the counter argument.

Apparently it was a minor injury. If it was that minor why not take a chance and sign him like we did with Downing?
It sounds to me like he's not worth the hassle, i.e, he's not that good. That's why I'm not disappointed.
What would disappoint me though is if this was the kind of player we were going for this January. If that's the case we are well and truly f#cked.
