If Ginola had a bit of timber, Gregory would tell me I was lugging the forest of dean on my back.

Behrang Safari, left sided player can play left back. £1mill

http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/Aston-Villa-bid-1-million-for-Basels-Behrang-Safari/12775/

I've heard he's a real animal of a player.
I think we'd have the lion's share of possession in games if we sign him.

He might give us a bit of bite.

The Daily Mail reckon Robbie Keane would take a 50% pay cut (33 grand) to join the scum or Wolves. With Sidwell going and another few players that would easily be covered. Not the long term fix but would definitely get us goals and out of this mess .......

Agree on Keane. There is room for a 30 ish forward and midfielder ike Diarra if both are of decent quality. Keane would score enough/ create enough to win games that are tight and would be good enough for another 2-3 seasons.

Macheda wants a move, preferably a loan, apparently.

Worth a look?

Not for me. The only player I would take on loan would be Woodgate, and that's because I could see a very good chance of a permanent deal if it worked out. I generally hate loan deals for a club of our stature.
There was a little Italian from Leeds with an Alice band who didn't do too badly for us he even scored a hat trick, trouble was he wanted too much money to sign permanently. Edit Benito Carbone

We were owned by Ellis at the time though. And it was supposedly a done deal. And then it wasn't, which kind of sums up the point I'm making. We had to start from scratch again finding a striker, 6 months after finding him.

And was that Gilles de Bilde?  On loan?  Or is my memory acting up?

Linked with Bendtner today too. Not sure whether the suggestion is a loan or permanent deal.

Let's get him in, he's an arrogant little shit but I rate him

I don't trust a player with four consecutive consonants in his name.

He's scored something like 3 goals in his last 30 league games. Heskey has a better goalscoring record over the last couple of seasons.

(this was from memory of an indignant, angry post from a few months ago, so I accept the exact facts might be wrong - but the gist is more or less correct)

I think I said this on one of the 421 times we've been linked with Robbie Keane. i don't doubt his ability, but I do very much doubt his committment to the game. He's got a great life, a cracker of a missus, and doesn't really have to play anymore. The last thing we need is to ship out Carew and Ireland, and get ourselves another player who isn't as motivated as his pay would warrant.
