Agree N'Zogbia would be a good buy, especially with the uncertaintity around Ash.

I'm not so sure.

Can he play centrally, which is where Ash is playing for us?  If not then we'd just be adding another winger and we have two good ones already, so not a position I'd class as a priority.

Personally, I think Ash will go in the summer so lets spend on DCm and striker now, if possible, and then look for a genuine playmaker in the summer.  Or maybe Delph can play in his place?

Behrang Safari

Quote
Aston Villa have bid for Basel's Behrang Safari , according to the German 4-4-2 Web site.
Safari's contract expires at the end of the season and Villa are said to have offered Basel €1 million to sign the 25-year old in January.

Borussia Dortmund are also interested in his services.

Safari is a fast, talented player, who can play as a left back as well as on the left of midfield.

He is renowned in Switzerland for his great attacking skills and the danger he poses down left wing. He still has some defensive weaknesses though, as he is a bit lacking in positional sense and physical strength.

Already sounds better than Warnock.

Not sure how much we need new players as much as we need to get back Martin Laursen as our defensive coach as we've still not got one! I'm sure some of the players would respond to the appointment especially the ones that know him. It would help maybe established a better bond between the players and the manager.
Yes we need the Lionheart back in our folds, I cannot see a natural leader in the squad or in the dugout, and how can a once very good defence become very bad?

I stuppidly commented in the summer that I'd love to see a management pairing of Laursen and Mellberg at the club.

Must have missed the bit where it says he is crap and thick with it then, always diving in, unable to stay on his feet, continually out of position (witness Spurs first goal) and like a headless chicken going forward. I would be a better signing than Warnock...

I think Warnock is suffering from lack of confidence, he was playing brilliantly before his injury

He can play centrally as good as Ash, probably better because he is more of a goal threat.

We need 3 wingers, look when Marc was out. If Ash leaves he needs replacing and N'Zogbia would be perfect.

He wasn't out of position for their first goal.

Oh yes he was! Watch the build up to the goal again rather than just the goal itself...

And he has never been 'brilliant' for us...not in my opinion anyway. That's the sort of word I reserve for the way in which Bale has played these last few months and Warnock has never ever been remotely at that level...not within a million miles

N'zogbia is good down the middle. Dare I say a replacement for Gabby and a challenge for him to up his game to get back in the team. Replace Heskey with the younger and better goalscoring Elmander (who I have always rated, not just suggesting because of recent form) and we could have a good pair there. I like the idea of taking a chance on some of these little knowns as well, something we rarely ever do.

Oh no he wasn't, in the build up he was marking Defoe, because Defoe was on his side. Modric hit a great pass to their full back, and Downing trotted back without a care in the world.

Warnock has been poor all season but you can't blame him for every goal we concede.

He was excellent in his first 4 months, dipped in form and has got progressively worse since, and is now at 'Bernie Gallager' level.
