It is not always the parts of the team that is the most important it is the way those parts knit together to form the complete unit.

You need the workhorses to marry up with the magicians of the team to give a succesful unit.  It is having the ability to bring together the correct mix of the two that makes a good manager.

So those people who maybe say xx is cr*p or we should go for yy coz he's brilliant are maybe seeing them as isolated parts, not seeing them as parts of a whole.  I hope, and think, that this is what GH is looking at.

James Nursey really is an annoying twat and seems to have a bee in his bonnet about Villa.

So Ash has changed his agent.

Also notice he said wants a move to one of the 'big Five' not four.

I see James Nursery has been given his Christmas crayon set a few days early!! Twat!

What's this nonsense about Liverpool being one of the most attractive clubs to join at the moment? I don't think so

No thanks to Bentley. Big time Charlie.

Pretty sure that Redknapp is on record as saying he is one the hardest trainers at Spurs, Id take him, he can play wide, in the middle and he has something to prove.

We can now cast our net wider than dear old Blighty, and I'd hope we'd do that and see what we reel in before going for known British failures.

I'd take a punt on Bentley for sure, if reasonably priced. Still think he'll turn out to be a more than decent player given a run out. It wasn't that long ago people had written Bale off. Redknapp got lucky with him, he had to play him at at time when they were struggling with injuries, and he went from strength to strength.

I saw him out in Whisky Mist about a month ago with his sister and some or her mates, he was very drunk and acting the real bell-end

There are clear differences between Bale and Bentley though. Bale just hadn't found his niche (people writing him off was ridiculous, he was still a teenager), whereas Bentley, much older, found his niche and was then found out. For all his outward apperance he's always seemed to me a very limited player - not the best man for the team, his work off the ball, passing in deep and so on leaving a lot to be desired, but he's not even a very good individualist like Bale. We can do so much better than David Bentley, in terms of price, quality and wage-cost.

We can do a lot better I agree, but will we? If he's cheap (which I doubt) then could be worth a punt.

Regarding Bale...no probably not a fair comparison but there are an awful lot of people around (mainly Spudz fans) saying yea I knew he would come good, Harry did a great job....did they / he hell as like. If it wasn't for the injuries there's a fair chance he would have rotted in the stiffs. Mind you, same could be said of Albrighton, Hogg, Bannan, Clark.....

Agree Monty, with the continental net we can now cast, I'm sure we will find players with a lot more talent or potential and with a better work ethic than David Bentley.

I thought Karim Ait-Fana looked a real talent the other night for Montpellier. Very tricky winger who can play as a second striker too. Similar to our Ash and also into the last 18 months of his current contract.

David Bentley? A big no. He comes across as the type of player who would be happy to sit out the rest of his Spurs contract on his big money. He has'nt exactly made any noises about wanting first team football. Besides, we already have a much better prospect in Albrighton.

I don't think we really need a winger that desperately. Downing has played well this year and Albrighton is excellent, so even if Ashley Young goes we're okay.

A workhorse in midfield who is okay on the ball might be useful. Not sure what Makoun is like? A striker is definitely on the wish list too.
