I think a loan could work with Ireland.

If he plays well he will be worth the 8 mill we paid or he could come back to us.

If he doesnt play well, Mark Hughes will still love him for 3 million.

Sorry but Ireland has had a chance, he doesn't look bothered, he hasn't looked classy, he has looked poor.

Get rid. Move him on. The only difference between him and Sidwell as far as I can see is Sidwell tries, but the game by-passes him, while Ireland can't be arsed and the game by-passes him.

He's had what, 10 appearences at most? The majority of those from the bench.

I find it strange that some people are unwilling to give him a fair crack of the whip, before "getting rid".

I agree he hasnt had a proper chance yet but he hasn't helped himself either.
I think he's left Man City and arrived at Villa in unfortunate circumstances on both ends and he cant get his head around it.
I wonder if he ever will but of those I listed in the out tray, he's pobably the only one worth perservering with.
I know he's potentially a top player. Hopefully he'll roll his sleeves up and make sure he is going to be one here, but only he can.

A fair crack of the whip on his arse might wake him up a bit, can't remember the last time I saw a player so utterly devoid of interest.

I remember Maloney always looking like he didn't want to be here, but at least he put some effort in and scored a few goals.

Sometimes you just know though, even after that short timescale, that it's doomed. I too would get rid asap. We have plenty of decent players in midfield anyway (once they are all fit).

trouble with Ireland is he was bought in a sort of transfer no-man's land. No-one's sure if he was pulled from MON's last wish list, or was McDonald's/Lerner's idea. He's played badly so Houllier is not going to look kindly on him and no-one else is admitting responsibilty.  Not an easy situation for any player.

It would be easier for him if he had looked vaguely arsed for more than five minutes since joining.

Maybe we should give him a pay rise.

Source in the press quoting Ireland as saying he will even play for Ireland again if it helps to get him a move away from villa- I'll paste article later as I'm on iPod but he's quoted as wanting to leave villa in January and fee of around £4m. Seems by all accounts he does not want to be here- if so good riddance!

From today's gossip-
Sven-Goran Eriksson is preparing a £1.5m bid to make Tottenham defender Kyle Naughton's loan move to Leicester permanent.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Another promising youngster who has died a death at Tottenham.  I thought him and Walker the other full back on loan at QPR were very good at Sheffield Utd. I wouldn't mind either or both with us challenging for full back positions, wouldn't cost the earth either.

Leicester fans I know reckon Naughton has been brilliant.....  good price at 1.5   ...    they are telling me now Davis isnt worth 4 million...

If this is accurate he can fuck off, I was more than prepared to give him a chance but if he isn't prepared to get his head down, his form right and earn his wages then bollocks to him.

“I am seriously thinking of calling Trap (Giovanni Trapattoni) in the next few weeks and hopefully can work my way back into his plans,” Ireland said.

“If I can¹t get a move in January then I need to look at the summer and playing for Ireland will at least put me in the shop window.”

He actually looked alright second half against 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'  no worse than any of the other plonkers that night...  I was suprised to see him not in the squad next game.. There is a good player in their somewhere, wheres Sidwell. Dunne,Osbourne and Salifou there isnt.... so its ashame   but the guys head is mashed probably .... maybe a spell in the reserves for a few games...

I'd give the lazy fucker a spell in a leper colony, I'll bet he's the highest paid player we have ever had and what do we get for it, a handful of half arsed performances and a thinly veiled transfer request. Shame as on form he's just what we need.

What an absolute waste of skin. I'm disgusted.

All that guff about being a family club and feeling really at home and Villa getting the best of the Milner exchange etc.
Fucking gobshite. You can't fuck off soon enough, baldilocks.

(if those quotes are accurate, of course)
