yep. if you play that way you need quality and we currently ain't got it especially in the defensive midfielder positions. wouldn't be too happy about ireland or even gabby on his own either

I'd be surprised if Ireland is still here at the end of January, I really think we will see much more wheeling and dealing than a lot of people expect,people say houllier has a huge network of contacts and I'm sure he will bring in players from Europe as well as the uk- we may have to pay over the odds in jan but I'd expect at least 3 in and the same out if not even more coming in.

Another promising youngster who has died a death at Tottenham.  I thought him and Walker the other full back on loan at QPR were very good at Sheffield Utd. I wouldn't mind either or both with us challenging for full back positions, wouldn't cost the earth either.

About the Jesse Vossen thingy a few pages ago, he wouldn't make it in England though. He's good enough in Belgium/Holland or a mid table team in France maybe but in England? Nah, leave him.  As for January, i would look into the French market ( with gerards contacts ).

And the thing with Ash? Keep him, thats easy.

Keeper wise, Westwood might well be going on a free in the Summer when his contract runs out, i'd be tempted, always thought he was a good keeper.
Certainly better than Guzan.
