If he were at the Lyon game he would have got to see this absolutely corking goal from Hapoel Tel Aviv's Eran Zahavi:

What a great strike, if we did get him you could bet he would either get injured or only find the crowd with every shot he attempted.

Revelliere is a decent full back isn't he? A fullback and forward in Gomis would be welcome. Can we have Makoun too!

Gomis has turned out to be the French Marlon Harewood & Emile Heskey all in one! Was OK as a big fish in the little St Etienne pond, but never scored more than 16 goals in a season in all competitions! Was no coincidence that Lyon improved when he was taken off and Bastos came on in that game on Tuesday.
Would rather GH was looking at either of the Ligue 2 games that were on that night!

edit: Revelliere is over 30 now, so probably not the best option IMO.

We've been linked with Makoun and Gomis from that list.

From that list the only players I can distinctly recall seeing and being impressed by are Bastos, Pjanic and Cissokho.

We've been linked with a French striker named Nolan Roux. Was he playing on Tuesday?

Bit disapointing to read, but sounds like a sensible lad.

M'Vila Happy where he is

Maybe we should turn our attention to the two Toulouse lads Sissoko & Capoue, Capoue in particular is flying slightly under the radar at the moment, but looks like he could be a really good combatitive centre mid!

Capoue Clicky

Sissoko has that languid Viera like style about him and has an eye for goal too!

Who he buys in January will surely depend on the kind of set-up he wants to use.
If, for example, he wants to use a midfield destroyer and a playmaker, he could do worse than go for Sissoko as the destroyer and Badelj from Dinamo Zagreb as the playmaker.
Just for those that don't know about Badelj, he is 21/2 and likes to play from deep in the central midfield, spraying passes, not only wide but through the centre channels. It is because of his potential allied to what he already delivers that Zagreb were willing to let Modric leave.
We also need cover for the midfield destroyer type of role, so I would seriously consider Torosidis from Olympiakos. He's 25/6 and can play DM/RB/CB/LB. A short of John O'Shea type of player, versatile.
Also on loan at Olympiakos but belonging to St.Etienne is Kevin Miralles, who at 23/4 years of age can play RW/LW/SS or up front on his own.
Jelle Vossen, who we have been linked to anyway has been on form since he returned to RC Genk. He's hit 14 in 11 games. His valuation was £5 million.

None of whom will be looking in our direction anytime soon.

I'd be surprised if you hadn't been impressed by Lloris or Lopez though. Both of whom are excellent.

The Evening Mail reported that Houllier ended up not going to the game in France, preferring to hold meetings with his coaching staff.

We need a left back in January as a matter of urgency I would think, with there being no natural cover for Warnock.
The things to be considered I would think are, do we want a British player, or a continental player.
If we are going for a continental player do we go for a northern continental, or a southern continental. There are advantages in each, as well as disadvantages.
Northern continental players, Norwegians, Swedes, Danes, Belgians, French and Dutch tend to settle in in England fairly well and quickly, wheras southern continentals usually take time to adjust.
The southern continentals usually are more ball playing types, who naturally play a slow, slow, quick type of game.
All a matter of personal preference for the manager I suppose, and until we know what type of game he wants to play, surmising who he might want to buy is a waste of time.
