Can't see Milner coming back here, we've only gone backwards since he's left and there'd be other takers. As much as I like the bloke I'm sure he'd take a a move to Tottenham or Liverpool before he signed up here again.

Sad but true...last season seems like a disant memory. Losing him was such a kick in the nuts for the club.

I am all in favour of  giving Rene as much time as necessary and at leat two transfer windows to  turn us into  better than MON's team HOWEVER if he signs Owen... NO

He was finished before going to WC 2006  but has done very well to  have a fat contract from Newcastle and Manu for the last 4 years now he  should retire and look after his horses full time!

A very interesting word combo..but I guess it shows how us fans  have been beaten in to submission!

If GH signs Owen it will be a bit of a damp squib of a signing.

Owen and Heskey up front is like going back 6 years in time.

Buy someone for the future Gerard......

It's crazy but relative to modern day football.

Owen? Keane? Cisse?

Wouldn't it just prove cheaper to hand Carew a new contract and stick with the useless has-been we already have? At least Carew's problems are more effort related than shitness related for the first two.

It's not 2002 FFS.

These names are a bit of a nagging worry.  Houllier clearly needs to get bodies in in order for us to filed a team that doesn't include the tea lady, but I'd really hope he'd be able to attract some younger blood than the likes of Owen et al.

Third shout for PSV's Ola Toivonen. Though not a world-beater, ít often looks like he fills several positions in one game. Good movement, touch and finish. Not unlike Albrighton, but in central midfield. We could do with more.

Owen at the Villa - no no no no no no and no.

I'm more than happy to give GH time as Villa boss, results have been ordinary to say the least but I understand that there are mitigating circumstances for this and that he needs time to stamp his own brand on the Club.

Having said that, a signing like Owen, where will piss away alot of money on wages for feck all in retuirn will make me wonder if we shouldn't be getting rid sooner rather than later.  Plenty on here like to point to MON for signing duds on good money.  We also got decent results and the Club was moving forward.  Signing Owen would, in theory, top anything MON did on the dud signings front.

Owen is currently out with a hamstring injury.

I had no idea this had happened, but just decided to check physioroom.com, as I was so certain that, if you take any random point in time, there is a good chance - 80 percent or higher - that Michael Owen will be injured.

Why we'd want to supplement an injury ravaged squad with another injury ravaged player is beyond me.

I expect far more imaginative signings under this manager than Robbie keane or Owen and I'd be hugely disappointed if we sign either in January or next summer.

I'm hoping the Djibril Cisse rumours are just a misunderstanding and we are actually looking at Papiss Demba Cisse from SC Freiburg. He's developing into a phenomenal striker and has all the attributes to flourish in the Prem! Plus a headline writers dream of a name!
