I'd prefer taking a risk on Piquionne than buying a tired old has-been like Keane.
Piquionne is older than Keane

Piquionne is older than Keane, and according to the trusted Wikipedia has a strike rate in England of 9 in 47, no thanks

If Man City are clearing out we should look to pick up a few of their players. Point to prove and all that.

I don't think Robbie Keane will ever sign for villa.

Lescott would be a good start.

Anyone worried that our shitty league position will affect who we are able to sign in the January window?

I've been pretty relaxed about our current plight as I had written this season off as one of transition anyway (the kids being a bonus) however there is no doubt that if we're perceived to be in a relegation battle then some of the better players may choose to go elsewhere.

I don't want any Man City players regardless, the two we've had are not performing.

No player would actually want to leave city too come here so no thanks.

40 odd grand a week will soften the blow for most of the modern day mercenaries.

You're quite right, I had no idea he was 31, he looks quite young.

31 is quite young!  Seriously, maybe he had an easier paper-round

No doubt you're right, but if we were pushing top four its likely that the £40k would be £30k due to our increased bargaining power.

My worry is that we will end up making signings that will improve us in the short term (this season) but ultimately end up being deadwood and hard to shift in the coming years i.e. "doing a Harewood..."

I hope Houllier is brave enough to resist this temptation.

Maybe he's one of those African 31's and it's even worse he's 48 or something. I bet Yakubu's in his 40's.
