Agree on N'Zogbia
I know he's a bit crackers, but every time I see Charles N'zogbia play he looks like the best player on the pitch. He's way too good for them, and we should step in, as insurance against Young fucking off.

Agreed. Every time I've seen him he's looked extremely creative.

Murphy's a lovely footballer who I've rated for years - still can't forgive O'Leary for spending £1m more on Berson the summer Murphy joined Charlton - and I wouldn't be unhappy to see him join us, even in the latter years (like, two at most) of his career. But he'd be a steady the ship signing and come January, we could and should have NRC and Delph available again, Petrov not far off, and Gary Gardner probably pushing for involvement. So, no.

Tectonic plate shifting suggests it might move fractionally towards the Americas but it wont be much.

Actually away from the Americas. The Mid-Atlantic ridge is a constructive tectonic plate movement and is therefore widening  ::)

This one did the rounds a few weeks back and has resurfaced today with a quote from the player.

Quote
Aston Villa are believed to be lining up a swoop for Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun when the winter transfer window opens following an admission that he is looking for the exit door. The 27-year-old has had an uneasy relationship with the Lyon supporters and now believes the time has come to make his exit from the Stade Gerland.

"I’m not going to complain", said Makoun to L’Equipe about support attitudes towards him, "but I think the next transfer window [to leave]."

The tough-tackling defensive midfielder cost Lyon €14M to tempt from Lille in 2008 and is known to be highly rated by Aston Villa boss and former Lyon coach Gerard Houllier. The Frenchman is believed to have made Makoun a priority for the winter transfer window and will be delighted if he can convince the Cameroon international to head to Villa Park.

Just noticed from that profile that he's only an inch taller than Bannan. Those 2 might not win too many headers.

The thing with African players is that every two seasons they go to play in the African Nations Cup and are lost at a vital point in the season. We need to make sure we have the cover in place if said player becomes an essential player. Something we currently don't have, but of course the next Nations Cup is in 2012, so there is time to bulk the squad a bit.
