I'll say it again, if fully fit Delph will be a superstar. For me hes a better player than Wilshire.

I was impressed and encouraged by what I saw of Delph, but you're talking about a young player who has still only made a handful of appearances outside the third division.

That's an awful lot of expectation to lump on him, with not much to base it on.

To say Delph is better than Wiltshire is very naive and has no justification. Wiltshires experience in the premiesreship is far superior. And some of his performances have been world class. We need to stop putting these high expectation on Delph and let him progress naturally .........

Wilshere and Delph are enormously different players. I actually think they'd work really well together in a midfield, hopefully for England.

From my limited viewings of Wilshire, he is a deep lying central midfielder, who gets the ball and spreads the play, a Ray Wilkins kind of player if you like. For me he has'nt got the burst of acceleration that Delph has, hes not as good in the tackle as Delph is, and he has'nt got as good a shot as Delph has.

Again, this is on limited viewings of Wilshire, on the limited viewings of Delph, he was our best player againsy Wigan/Bolton last season, and the best player on the pitch, Rooney included, against Ure at home.I'm not talking down Wilshire, i'm talking up one of ours. For me, again if he recovers 100%, he will be the best midfielder down VP in the last 40 yrs....heres hopeing anyway.

  Still buy Henderson though.

That's not really Wilshere's game, long-term. He's been playing there to get more space, but as he gets older he'll play further forward - Wenger says he even sees him in the Bergkamp position.

As I've been saying for a while now, I have the highest hopes for Gardner and Delph.

Despite his lack of exposure at the top level Delph has looked class when I've seen him.  He just seems to have that certain something - a willingness  to take responsibility and try things, an air of supreme confidence in his ability, a lack of fear, whatever - that you don't often see in a player so young and inexperienced.  I recall seeing the same sort of qualities when Cowans first got into the team aged about 17.  You can never tell but he has all the attributes necessary to make it big if he keep himself focussed.

Agreed, KTV, and he's also got that quality that he seems to have more time on the ball than other players. I do think we'd be in a really strong position if he were fit at the moment.

Why would one wish to compare a footballer with a county in the south of England?

Shame Delph is out.  I think we saw enough of him to realise we have a player of quality.  I remember the programme notes from last seasons opener with Wigan and Stan's Captains page was gushing.  I think he said something like he's going to be one of the best Midfielders in the country soon and i remember thinking that's heaping some serious pressure on the kid.  He MUST have something for a seasoned pro and international captain like Petrov to come out with that kind of thing.

Anthony Annan may be available in January. Norway's league finishes in November and they may be out of Europe by Christmas. He's a small lad but a feisty one, thought he had a really good World Cup too. Surprised he didn't move in the summer.

We've got to get him just so he can play alongside Bannan.

He is a cracking little player. Would be perfect for us.

Let's not go overboard about Annan. He had a good World Cup, but how many of us actually know more about him than that? Certainly not me. It would be rather like turning down Ganso and Neymar on the basis that they had a bad youth World Cup a year or so ago, or (ahem) signing Milan Baros on the basis of one good Euros.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, far from it, he seemed very promising. But I'm not sure it's sensible to call for his signing on the basis of one tournament.

Baros was signed as much for the promise shown at Milan/Liverpool as his Euro 04 goals.

Speaking of Annan, whatever happened to Eddie Annan, once of Sligo Rovers and Ayr United I think.
