I'll probably get shot for this, but I wouldn't mind having Lucas if he were available. People in Brazil rate him as a real all-round midfielder who isn't being allowed to do as well as he could at Liverpool because of their stifling tactics. Statistically I believe his pass completion and tackling is right up there, and he was also known in Brazil for breaking late into the penalty area to score. If he could combine the two games he might be the player we need.

Let me just pop out to the shed and get the gun. The wall is over there....

Remember, Richard, two shots in quick succession, just to be sure.

You sound like a concise John Blackwell and I claim my 93.03 Norwegian Krone.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I see nothing in Lucas to make me long for the days when we can have such an artisan pulling the strings in our midfield.

He might be better in one of the slower leagues. The Greek one if I was a betting man. That's generally where good (but old) Brazillians or youngish ones who were never much cop go to die.

I'm saving the second one for Lucas himself...

Monty, that's a shocker. Lucas is absolute bollocks.

I think you might have to look a third bullet...

He has not performed to his full potential as they have not played him in his natural position. He is no defensive midfielder but rather an attacking one. All his best performances have come from a more attacking role than the holding role he generally played under Benitez and has some time held under Hodgson.

Now, I'm not about to say we should rush out and buy him as we already have Steven Ireland but I just think some on here are being somewhat harsh on him. Also, for my money he doesn't seem to be anything like as bad as Liverpool fans make him out to be. Sometimes hapless, yes but by no means a bad player.

I think Lucas' natural position is sitting down in a call centre.

Lucas was one of Liverpool's better midfielders last season. All the more reason to leave him there.

I can see Montys point. The move to Liverpool was off the back of being Brazilian player of the year for Gremio. He reminds me very much of Petrov to be honest. There is a very good player in there somewhere, I would suggest that its not the position he plays thats the problem, more the pace of the game here.

From various reports, I've heard that Lucas is a world beater in training and when he is with the national team. Apparantly he gets really nervous before games and doesn't play to his natural ability.

Christ! He's scored again.

With him and Hesk scoring tonight I think I've gone back to the year 2000.

Shola Ameobi scored twice against Chelsea.

We shouldn't sign him either.

From what I've heard..and seen he's fucking useless. I'm suprised O'Neill didn't try to sign him.
