Replica shirts delayed
« on: September 11, 2010, 03:44:50 PM »
On OS now. Due to quality issues in a small number of shirts, both the home and away shirts will not be on sale til mid November.

Joint statement from Aston Villa and Nike:

Aston Villa and Nike regret that the home and away shirt for season 2010-11 on-sale dates have been delayed due to quality issues identified by Nike in a small percentage of the shirts that had already been manufactured.

Nike has been a committed partner of Aston Villa since 2007 and has invested heavily in the club during this time, and the high quality of the products and satisfaction of the fans is of the utmost importance.

Therefore a decision was made jointly by Aston Villa and Nike to set new on-sale dates for November 2010 for the home and away shirts.

We appreciate the inconvenience caused by these delays, which were outside of the club's control, and apologise sincerely to all Aston Villa fans.

This should now immediately be followed by a statement saying that due to the delays this shirt WILL be used next season as well.

I won't hold my breath.

shocker. Very poor indeed. I liked the idea of Nike at the very start of all of this. While it's not all their fault because of shirt sponsor issues, this has been bad overall. We do so many things very welll, but this is pretty embarrassing for the club in every way.

They should discount the kit, it will be out of date by the time we get it.

The club should do a shirt and home match ticket for £40..     maybe for the Blackpool game ..

Would be absolutely the right things to do. I bet the contract with Nike is for a new shirt each year. All in all very poor and symbolic of the way the season's gone so far.

Agreed, should be used the following season too now. You will only get 5-6 months of wear out of it.

Surely there must have been something in the contract about concessions from Nike if they couldn't deliver within a reasonable time scale? If not then whoever negotiated this wants shooting.

I don't get it... it's the same dri-fit fabric they use on all football shirts made by Nike. I smell bullshit.
