Hi General,

Don't normally get involved in this thread, however I too saw the footage of the man getting ejected by the stewards - totally wrong imo.

I give them the benefit of the doubt here and say that maybe the stewards were just following the rules to the letter.  If so may I respectfully suggest that this rule be changed to include that all to scarce commodity in this day in age - common sense.

If that had happened to me, I think i'd need to hear an apology from the Villa before I'd go back.

And if some stewards are so keen to eject people, might I suggest that they are stationed in the away end toilets - they could have a field day.

Toilets destroyed - Villa fan falls over a board after delighting the crowd with one of the finest headers seen at Villa Park in years and gets kicked out of his teams stadium??

That would be a decent way of looking at it - except for the fact that a number of our stewards (not all)  have been heavy handed and OTT for a while.

I'm glad they made fools of themselves yesterday to a national audience -slightly peeved that it reflects badly on the club mind- hopefully it can't be brushed under the carpet and heads will roll.

General: what kind of training do our stewards undertake?
Is there any focus re customer liaison/ background checks/ previous jobs et.c. Or are they just turned loose on the public after a brief interview?

I was in the Lower Holte as usual,

add my voice for the fan who headed the ball and then was pounced on, an over the top and unnecessary reaction from the stewards. UTV

I think the club should issue an apology to that lad on the OS. It was pitiful to watch. Is this what we've come to now, a society of bullies, picking on people who can't fight back?

I think the stewards at villa are among the worst I've seen- they should be providing a service for fans and all too often seem to have a really bad attitude.

General, will Birmingham city be billed for any damage done inside our ground by their so called fans?

Sorry Dave, I've checked the whole thread first, but wish to make this point as it is valid.

Had the gent simply had jumped and caught the ball and handed it back to a player in play or a ball boy, would he have been ejected ? I think not.

The club need to apologise.

I take your point about a stewards thread dave, but I think it's important the general gets to see how unhappy people are with this incident- and I'm not sure he has time to read other threads on here.

Like Dave said, with amount of posts that have already been put on here about it, i think he'll have got the message by now.

General.

In light of the poblems before and after the game today have the club considered doing a 'bubble match' for the cup game at Sty Andrews?

Sorry if you're not aware of this, but what it means is every away fan only gets given their match ticket as they arrive at the ground after travelling by official travel to the game. In light of the fact it is an evening midweek kick off and idiots from both sides can spend the afternoon drinking surely this would show Villa are trying to do something to limit the possibility of trouble.

And for those of us coming from outside Birmingham and who like a pre-match drink, this would be a monumental ball ache. Let WMP do their jobs and not go down the lazy Heddlu route.
