General,

This fiasco with Nike wont go away with us . Therefore can the club do the right thing and give us 2 seasons wear from this new kit, now we have lost potentially 6 months use , when other clubs have theirs out in May ?

I may have read it wrong elsewhere, but doesn't the Nike deal expire at the end of this season anyway?

Checked fixture list and NFL Wembley match on 31st October.

Spotted Aston Villa V Small Heath at 12.00 then American football Wembley at 5.00pm at the same day.

Is there any possibly for Aston Villa Travel Club to provide a coach  for both Aston Villa (and Birmingham City if they behave) and American Football fans to attend both as there is tight margain for time. It would save a lot of travelling headaches.

General,

It has been a very long and testing Summer and start to the new season, and I'm sure that if it were possible to turn the clocks back a number of things would've been done differently. What I'd be interested to find out it is what Randy, Paul Faulkner and Yourself have learnt and more importantly going to try and implement so that should a similar situation arise again the same mistakes aren't made.

I think its a bit unfair to speak of stop 'the same mistakes' after all a manager could walk out at anytime no matter what the relationship with the board is.

It may have taken a while to appoint a new manager but how could they have shortened the time? appoint KM right away? appoint Curbishley or Southgate right away?

Even the best HR dept will take a month at least to fill a new vacancy and then add on the notice period of that new target and it will take another month!

Mon leaving when he did has caused us the most pain, but I think the board has handled it with grace, patience and professionalism, it may not have been as fast as some would of liked, but as I said it does take time to recruit!

As for the kit issue, words fail me on this one

Mark

General I wouldn't dream of telling you how to run a business or for that matter telling GH how to choose his coaching staff. I simply wish to use this forum to bring to your attention that, in my opinion, both Mr Southgate and Mr Staunton have treated Aston Villa Football Club without the respect that it deserves and would therefore be left with little alternative than to request a refund on my families season tickets should either gentleman be invited to return to my football club. This the club that they have both expressed previously to not be good enough for them.

Wishing GH the very best of luck; I commend you on a very brave appointment.

Eddie.

Mr Staunton have treated Aston Villa Football Club without the respect

I shall always remember listening to "Mr Staunton" one evening, when such issues were levelled at him by local radio after he departed to Liverpool, after his first stint with us. The said radio station had such a shock, when Stan was driving through, to hear the criticism and promptly phoned up and asked to be put on air. He blew all the negative comments into perspective with the proper view at that time.

Let us not forget though, that he returned to give us sterling service as Captain. Indeed during such a time, I went to a shareholders forum with SGT2 where stan was present and his passion for the club was evident.

Things like this criticism, show the world that some of our fans are fickle, espiecially when the player came back to make any amends of perception.

As for Southgate, I can live with that.

General I couldn't give a care if Houllier chose David O'Leary as coach, all this sniping about past players etc is pathetic for me, as is the continual rambles about the kit cock up which surely is only hurting the clubs finances and saving fans money, or the continual need of some to still justify Mons exit by apportioning some blame on the Board, even if it is only about how many Stewards we employ compared to Spurs (obscure reference I know ).
What I am concerned about is the lack of a complete managerial and coaching staff setup so long after the last one walked so disgracefully.
I also hope there is a public gesture of thanks for KM for stepping in and doing such a sterling if not that impressive a job. He deserves no less.

When did this change from a "Questions for the General" thread to a free-for-all?  I used to quite like that you could look at this thread and quickly pick up the General's comments but now you have to sift through a hundred different conversations with sod all to do with the General and hope that you stumble across the needle in the haystack that is a comment from CK.

That said, I'm amazed he still posts here at all given some of the crap he has to deal with.

Questions only, please.

Can we try a bit harder not to let it descend into anarchy again?

Much appreciated
