It's from goal.com, not a credible source whatsoever.

Curbishley is 43/1 at betfair. Get on it. Then you win either way.

the most annoying thing is if houllier stays in france,  it is likely that curbishley will be offered the job
what is worrying is that they have spent a month looking for managers and a week interviewing them and  the best they could come up with is houllier and curbishley.....

doesnt that scare you slightly ?

If it really did/does boil down to those two then yes, alot.

What a stupid bloody comment about Andy Gray.

He chose to become a pundit on sky as his career, not to go into management.
He has done nothing wrong by the Villa as he is still there and always speaks positive about us.
If he had gone into management after then yeah but he never, so stop the bitching.

Are you aware that Andy Gray was Villa assistant manager under Ron Atkinson, was asked to choose between the two jobs and chose Sky?

As a player, he left us 'to win trophies' with Wolves.

Nose-Thompson failed to recognize the genius of Jari Litmanen ten years ago. He repeatedly benched one of the best players in the world. For this I shall never forgive him.

Best of luck for him at the Villa though. Let's hope he doesn't get the chance to bench our most talented players.

If Thompson was going to bench our most talented players we'd start every game about five players short.

How about this for a PT11:

Guzan
Young-Cuellar-Dunne-Warnock
NRC-Collins
Petrov
Heskey-Agbonlahor
Carew

Didn't bother to check his lineups from his time as Liverpool #1 - just thought of a semi-realistic way to ditch Ireland & Young.

Haven't read all this thread as I'm going out so don't know if anyone has mentioned this but my fear is that if Kevin McDonald is overlooked for assistant manager/coach then he could very well walk. We all know he is generally acknowledged as amongst the best in the business at what he does as reserve team coach. Can we really afford to lose a man of his calibre? Villa were in a no win situation from the minute Martin O'Neill baled out Kevin was the only real choice for the interim but once having tasted the forbidden fruit, so to speak, and being moderately successful it was obvious he would want a crack at it full time. Will he be happy to go back to the reserves? I have to admit to being a bit worried about this.

Another twist in the tail. I hope nothing has happened that would cause Kevin MacDonald to leave the club.

I think Kev Mac took the interview purely as his opportunity to gain leverage for an improved position under whoever the new Villa manager was going to be, I don't  think he seriously expected to be offered the job.

To be honest, after all of the support Petrov, Collins et al. gave him, for him to NOT have an interview, he'd have looked like a bit of a joke. Pass up a free opportunity to sit down with the owner and talk yourself up? That would be plain idiocy.

And did so the very next season. A pyrrhic victory however, as so did we for a couple of years after that.

Maybe kmac has applied for saints job as they have had 2 current pried managers apply according to sky.

He'd be in for a nice steady job there.

Why would Kmac walk? He's been a caretaker manager for a few weeks and must surely know that Villa would look to appoint an experienced manager.

Gray would rather work for Sky, although I do admit that's an improvement on the days when he preferred to work for Wolves and the Albion.

If anyone other than you had posted that comment Dave I'd have quoted you with a worthy round of applause. But it was you so I can't because I'm not a suck up ! ;-)
